Toy Fair 2016: Lego Lets Loose With Marvel, DC and Star Wars
Lego did not hold much back Toy Fair this year, unleashing an incredible number of sets across its massively popular licensed brands Marvel, DC and Star Wars. Sure, Lego had plenty of its own proprietary content on hand, too, but let's face it; building the Batcave is something we've all wanted to do. Now we can, and at a fraction of the real thing's price.

Lego Star Wars Game Will Offer Expanded Universe Story Hints
The new Star Wars expanded universe is about to drop some knowledge in an unexpected place. When TT Games' Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives this summer, not only will you be able to relive the memorable moments from the sequel 30 years in the making, you'll also get to play through sequences that take place prior to the movie for the very first time. While video games helping to expand on the Star Wars universe is nothing new, most of those experiences (Dark Forces, Shadows of the Empire, Knights of the Old Republic) were wholesale adventures and not just side-missions in a larger game. It is a little bit shocking to learn that this expanded content will appear in a game aimed at kids, particularly given how not so seriously the Lego video games take their inspiration. That said, there's so much new material to mine with Disney and Lucasfilm wiping the previous expanded universe slate clean, and so much desire for new Star Wars details, injecting it in some unlikely places does add another element of excitement in discovery. In an interview with Game Informer, members of TT Games' development teamed dished on just how and where these additional story missions will take place in the grander scheme.

The LEGO Star Wars games were some of the most entertaining family video games of the past 15 years. It launched the LEGO video game series and revitalized interest in both Star Wars and LEGO. The only problem? They ran out of Star Wars stories to tell. With both the original trilogy, prequel trilogy and Clone Wars all represented in games, there was really nowhere left to go…until George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney and Star Wars: The Force Awakens came along. That’s right, warm up your Xbox and PS4s because LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is coming to gaming systems this summer.

LEGO Catalog Reveals ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Spoilers
The 2016 Lego catalog is out, and with it come some surprise reveals for upcoming sets based in the Marvel universe. Just like the 2015 catalog revealing a bit about Avengers: Age of Ultron, Lego's latest teasers show a great deal of what to expect from the upcoming cinematic adventure, Captain America: Civil War. These sets are not to be confused with the other recently announced Marvel Super Hero sets, which included the first ever Captain Marvel and Thanos mini figures, though those are also due out in early 2016 and do make an appearance in the catalog. While there have been countless Lego sets based on the Marvel movies (and countless others) that haven't panned out with an exact 1:1 representation to the movie, the Avengers: Age of Ultron sets were fairly spot on. That's what makes these new Civil War sets so interesting. Each shares at least a little bit in common with some of the teasers and trailers we've seen so far, though there are still some surprises that should make Marvel fans excited if they do work out.

If you thought the dream of owning your very own Hook and Ladder 8 meant taking out three mortgages on your house, there's soon going to be a (slightly) more affordable option on the way. This January, Lego will finally release the rumored Ghostbusters headquarters set many thought would never come. There have been dozens of plans for the famous firehouse submitted through Lego Ideas over the years, but whether they were gigantic sets or more modular designs, none had made it past Lego's approval process. At least now we know why. Based on the iconic Hook and Ladder 8 from the original two films, the Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827) made its official debut today thanks to Entertainment Weekly. The set will consist of 4634 pieces, and features the two-story building with a garage, lab, living quarters and the Ghostbusters' proprietary containment system. The entire cast of major human players, including Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler, Winston Zeddemore, Janine Melnitz, Dana Barrett and Louis Tully will be part of the set, as will Slimer, the Library Ghost, and a pink and blue ghost.

‘Star Wars’ LEGO Commercial Shows Us What BB-8 Sounds Like
When BB-8 rolled across the screen in the very first teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens we heard a couple of cute R2-D2-esque beeps which we assumed were BB-8's sound effects. We heard similar sound effects when BB-8 appeared on stage at Star Wars Celebration, but those sounds were reportedly temporary until Lucasfilm settled on BB-8's official “voice.” Thanks to a new LEGO commercial, we may have our best indicator of what the new droid sounds like in the finished film.
