Lena Dunham’s career took off at the 2010 South By Southwest Film Festival, where her debut film as a writer, director, and actress, ‘Tiny Furniture,’ won the Best Narrative Feature award and garnered the attention of Hollywood. Judd Apatow was a fan, and offered to partner with her on an HBO series. The results, ‘Girls,’ became one of the channel’s most popular comedy series. Four seasons of the Brooklyn-set show have already aired and a fifth is on its way. In 2014, Dunham published her first book, a collection of essays titled ‘Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s ‘Learned.’’

'Girls' Season 5, 'Vinyl' Get February 2016 HBO Premeires

Granted we’ve barely made it out of October, HBO has us accustomed to a certain winter premiere schedule, among it the girls of Girls heading back to Brooklyn in January. Now, HBO seems to have shifted its schedule a bit, pushing premieres of Girls Season 5, Scorsese-Jagger rock drama Vinyl, and Mark Duplass’ Togetherness to February 2016.

HBO's 'Girls' Likely Ending With Season 6, Says Lena Dunham

HBO and Lena Dunham’s Girls has never committed to any particularly enduring premise, nor have recent seasons stirred as much controversy, and the series itself may apparently wrap up altogether before long. According to Dunham, the sixth season in 2017 will likely bring an end to Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna’s youthful exploits, and Girls overall.

'Girls' Season Finale Review: 'Home Birth'

Of every Girls season finale, “Home Birth” feels the most final — major changes and life plans happen in the blink of an eye; new lives enter this world and familiar faces fade; and perhaps what makes this episode feel so final is the “six months later” coda, which feels just as unnecessary here as it does in just about any other film or television show. That’s not to say that the conclusion doesn’t have its charms, but it might have been best saved for next season, given the powerful sequence that preceded it.
