No one expected 'The Hunger Games' to do as well as it did. Sure, everyone was expecting a big hit, but no one was expecting the major blockbuster numbers the film pulled off when it was released back in March. Naturally, Lionsgate did the fiscally (if not creatively) responsible thing: they put a sequel on the front burner and turned up the heat. Today, it was revealed that 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' is set to begin filming in Atlanta this July.
Poor Jennifer Lawrence, she's probably a bit tired having to travel all around the world in order to promote her film. At the same time, she gets to see the world. That's not entirely bad. After all, she gets to show up on some zany talks shows and show everyone how great of an archer she is.
You would think being the third lead in a hit film wouldn't mean all that much, all things. Much of what Liam Hemsworth does in 'The Hunger Games' is stare at Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen, but it seems that appearing in a film that's already grossed $300 Million domestic (after three weeks) makes you something of a star. So now Hemsworth is going to be the lead in 'Paranoia.'
Baby names are often influenced by pop culture, and this year is no exception, with prognosticators saying several movies, television shows and music stars will impact what winds up on birth certificates in 2012.
Fans of 'The Hunger Games' (and there are millions of us, er, them...) are going to be thrilled to hear that along with the 'Twilight,' 'Harry Potter,' and Bill O'Reilly conventions, a brand new teenage fan-fiction convention has now been added to the money-grabbing mix!
That's right 'Hunger Games' fans -- you have your very own convention!
