Man of Steel 2
Though there is a sense of rivalry between the DC and Marvel movie universes (or at least jealously, which seems the only reason Warner Brothers was so desperate to make 'Justice League'), the people behind these films have no ill will towards their supposed competitors. 'Avengers' director Joss Whedon -- after a day where many disparaged the casting of Ben Affleck as the new Batman -- has thrown his support behind the filmmaker-turned-crimefighter.
With the announcement that Ben Affleck will play the Dark Knight in the Batman and Superman-centric 'Man of Steel 2,' it reminds us how many actors were rumored or have played the part. Disregarding Batmans past, like Michael Keaton and George Clooney, there were a number of actors in contention. But who would you like to see play Batman in the movie?
Bryan Cranston recently indicated that he would be more than happy to shave his head (again) to potentially play the villainous Lex Luthor in 'Man of Steeel 2.' While there's no concrete evidence to suggest he's been offered the job or that Luthor will even appear in the sequel, it's still a fun question to ponder. Would the man who broke bad so well on TV be an ideal nemesis for Superman?
UPDATE: Additional speculation suggests that 'Breaking Bad' star Bryan Cranston may also be up for the role. Between these two actors, which would you rather see get the part?
As eagle-eyed fans the world over will tell you, 'Man of Steel' contained numerous references to LexCorp, the company run by iconic Superman villain Lex Luthor. Naturally, tongues started wagging and everyone immediately assumed that the bald baddie would play a major role in the inevitable sequel. And then the fantasy casting began.
And now, Mark Strong has hinted that the role may be his.
It was announced at Comic-Con 2013 that the sequel to 'Man of Steel' will feature a Batman vs. Superman fight in the vein of Frank Miller's graphic novel 'The Dark Knight Returns,' so the big question is, of course, who will play Batman? The script for Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel 2' is still being written, so it's a bit early for Warner Bros. to start meeting with prospective actors for the role, but sources claim they have a few ideas.
