With its release just around the corner, the maketing machine for 'Oblivion' is in full swing. After a soft start, the trailers have gotten increasingly interesting and two newly released TV spots are no different, selling a big, epic sci-fi action movie that looks genuinely mysterious and intriguing. Watch the spots below!
In the weeks and months after 9/11, it was reported that the United States military was recruiting Hollywood screenwriters to help predict potential follow-up attacks. The new thriller 'Olympus Has Fallen' plays like the craziest, silliest entry from that post-9/11 doomsday scenario slush file -- a passionately loony blend of 'Die Hard' cliches and feverish right wing paranoia. If only the execution of this White House home invasion fantasy was half as entertaining as its conception.
A court martial sends a veteran soldier to a distant planet, where he has to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveler causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself.
The seemingly immortal Tom Cruise has a lot to prove with 'Oblivion,' his upcoming science fiction epic and the subject of two fancy new posters. After the solid-but-not-spectacular box office performance of 'Jack Reacher,' Cruise's superstar status has been called into question, but there's no better way to combat that then headlining a major sci-fi action movie. The two new posters feel like they're hedging their bets: one relies almost entirely on Mr. Cruise's star power while the other relies on some nifty apocalyptic imagery to get butts in theater seats.
'Olympus Has Fallen' is in the bizarre position of being the first of two "terrorists take over the White House" movies coming out in 2013. We'll have to wait until 'White House Down' arrives in June before we can make any immediate comparisons, but right now, we feel like the one starring Channing Tatum will be better worth our time than the one starring Gerard Butler. Can a new featurette change our minds?
Gerard Butler plays an ex-Secret Service agent who is the rogue hero in the White House after a bunch of terrorists take the building hostage.
The trailer for 'Now You See Me' seems to suggest one crazy-ass movie. With a large and awesome ensemble cast, and a plot that seems to revolve around magicians who break into a break in Paris (while still in Vegas) only to give that money away... this could be awesome or terrible or terribly awesome or awesomely terrible. Hard to say.
Here's a little somethin' for the ladies: a snapshot of four Oscar-winning senior citizens chillaxing in Las Vegas. Call it 'The Hang Over-60.' Get it? Okay, sorry, moving on.
As you can see, this is a photo of Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro and Kevin Kline on the set of their new comedy 'Last Vegas,' which we're informed has just commenced production in Sin City. Read on after the break for more details on the film!
