When 'The Adventures of Tintin' was released last December it was supposedly the start of a trilogy that Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg were going to produce together and trade off directing duties. The film didn't perform strongly in America (though that was expected), but international numbers didn't made a sequel look like a done deal. Now Jackson has weighed in on the follow up, and it's going to happen.

'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,' the first film in Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit' film trilogy, has been long in the making. The professed J.R.R. Tolkien fan has been wanting to turn this beloved book into a big screen adaptation for some time, and the debut of the 'Lord of the Rings' movie trilogy was a step towards this fulfillment. But it certainly wasn't an easy road as many people teamed up to put this project together.
Before you see 'An Unexpected Journey' in theaters when it hits this Friday, December 14, take a look at this collection of behind-the-scenes photos to get a feel for what it took to make a movie of this magnitude. Seeing a group of ogres without costume and makeup is as arguably entertaining as seeing them on screen. Or what about Sir Ian McKellen grabbing some coffe in full Gandalf attire!

Tolkien fans around the world are preparing for the December 14 release of 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' in many different ways.  Some have gone back to painstakingly watch Peter Jackson's original 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy (even if it takes place afterward), while others continue gluing their own hair to prosthetic feet in preparation for attending the release in costume.  But how is life-long Tolkien fan Stephen Colbert preparing?  With a full week of 'The Colbert Report' dedicated to the film, and spotlighting its cast as guests!  Who will be in attendance?

Last night saw the big world premiere of 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' in New Zealand. Normally most premieres are in Los Angeles but because 'The Hobbit' was shot in New Zealand (and director Peter Jackson was finishing the film in the days leading up to the premiere), the premiere was in Wellington. So what did the crowd think?

No one has better behind the scenes footage of his films than Peter Jackson and the series of videos detailing the production of 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' have been among the very best associated with his work. After a lengthy gap, the ninth (and final?) video has arrived and it's all about the mad rush to push the film through post-production in time for its premiere.

Over the past two decades, the story of the West Memphis Three has become the definitive example of miscarriage of justice in the United States legal system. In fact, the wrongful conviction of Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley, Jr and Jason Baldwin for the murder of three young boys in 1994 has already been extensively chronicled in the 'Paradise Lost' trilogy of documentaries (the third of which premiered last year), which actually helped get their case overturned. However, 'West of Memphis,' a new documentary covering the entire case, is set to arrive in theaters this Christmas after an extensive festival run. Check out the poster and trailer below.
