With all of the recent marketing hubbub over 'The Dark Knight Rises' (see today, yesterday, the day before, etc), it may be easy to forget that another major superhero will hit the big screen several weeks before Batman. Yep, 'The Amazing Spider-Man' will be swinging our way on July 3 and will undoubtedly be the movie to see in between stretches of barbecue and fireworks. Well, unless you're not currently residing in the United States. Then you'll be seeing it in between stretches of things not related to a key American holiday.
Anyway, the Australian trailer for the hotly anticipated superhero reboot is online and if offers you Spidey fans just enough new footage to be worth your hard-earned time and energy.

One of the new awards MTV’s adding to this year’s Movie Awards will be the ‘Trailblazer’ trophy recognizing “actors beloved by the MTV audience who are carving out their own unique and diverse path within Hollywood,” according to the network. Today, it was revealed that Emma Stone will be the award’s first recipient.
It's surprising that it's taken this long for a studio to capitalize on the success 'The Dark Knight Rises' (and 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol') had with its opening sequence IMAX preview. But now 'Men in Black 3' will have six minutes of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' in front of its IMAX screenings. Win-win.

The smartest thing about the new preview for 'The Amazing Spider-Man' is that it doesn't show too much of Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man. What it does offer is footage of Spidey acting heroic, saving children and fighting Rhys Ifans's Curt Connor/The Lizard. It shows a size and scale that makes it look like a new take on the material, and makes us cautiously optimistic. Check it out...
