No matter how it happened, 'SNL' vet Bill Hader has become one of the go-to voices for animation, as he leads this weekend's 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2' as Flint Lockwood. On top of that, he's popular at Pixar and will do voice work for their upcoming films 'The Good Dinosaur' and 'Inside Out,' which we talked about, and the process of doing voiceover in the days while working on 'SNL' at night.
Hader is knee-deep in the animated world as he's working on this new season of 'South Park,' where you could hear his Alec Baldwin impression last night. Hader is also one of the preeminent nerds in pop culture, so we covered a lot of ground in our freewheeling discussion about his career and his taste.
Shortly after Pixar revealed the first footage, art designs and additional casting for 'The Good Dinosaur' at D23 Expo 2013, director Bob Peterson was pulled from his position. According to the studio, the film still needs more production time and has, therefore, been moved to a later release date in 2015 -- but that leaves next year without a feature.
Filmmaking is always a chaotic process where things can go wrong (or right) at the drop of a hat, and this applies doubly to the world of animation. Since animated films take years to make, they're constantly evolving and being rewritten and often key members of the cast and crew are replaced as the project trudges on. We don't know the details yet, but it looks like the process has claimed another victim: director Bob Peterson has been reportedly pulled off of Pixar's 'The Good Dinosaur.'
After debuting the new 'Monster's University' short film, 'Party Central,' during this year's D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center, Disney's chief creative office, John Lasseter, introduced the 'The Good Dinosaur,' the Pixar movie the short will premiere in front of in theaters.
During the third-annual D23 Expo, held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, event host and Disney's chief creative officer John Lasseter debuted a brand-new 'Monsters University' short film, 'Party Central,' which will make its theatrical premiere in front of the upcoming Pixar film 'The Good Dinosaur.'
Pixar films have featured some interesting casting choices over the years but none may be more unusual than...Lil Wayne? If casting rumors are to be believed, Weezy - once charged with multiple felonies including possession of narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia - could be the star of an upcoming 3D animated kids movie.
Though 'Brave' was a welcome respite, Pixar has gone sequel crazy, as their previous two films were sequels and this summer we're getting a prequel in 'Monsters University.' But the studio is also working on three non-sequels for the future, and have released images from each of them.
CinemaCon has led to some footage presentations and interviews, but one of the biggest bits of news is Pixar updating their slate. At D23 last year they announced two titles, and now they've provided even more information about those two, while also announcing a third title to be directed by Lee Unkrich.
