'Oblivion' Clips Offer a New Sneak Peek, Plus Get a Load of That Soundtrack

With its release only a few weeks away, you can expect to start seeing a lot from 'Oblivion,' Joseph Kosinski's mysterious Tom Cruise sci-fi movie. Just in case you weren't sold by the past few trailers, a new series of clips have arrived, peeling back a layer or two and exposing some of the film's stranger mysteries. If that's not enough, you can also stream the entirety of M83's original soundtrack.

Is their a band better suited to score an epic science fiction movie like 'Oblivion' than M83? In addition to taking their name from a spiral galaxy, their electronic instrumentals sound exactly like something people would be listening to in the future. A sample track from the 'Oblivion' soundtrack has made its way online, letting both music and movie fans get a taste of what the movie's score will sound like.

The seemingly immortal Tom Cruise has a lot to prove with 'Oblivion,' his upcoming science fiction epic and the subject of two fancy new posters. After the solid-but-not-spectacular box office performance of 'Jack Reacher,' Cruise's superstar status has been called into question, but there's no better way to combat that then headlining a major sci-fi action movie. The two new posters feel like they're hedging their bets: one relies almost entirely on Mr. Cruise's star power while the other relies on some nifty apocalyptic imagery to get butts in theater seats.

December is often a surprising month at the box office as many films that never top the box office end up making a lot of money. The Tom Cruise vehicle 'Jack Reacher' opened right before Christmas and had a $15 million opening weekend. Sounds weak right? And yet the picture has grossed nearly $80 million domestically, and over $200 million worldwide. Which is why Paramount is talking about a sequel.

This 'Oblivion' trailer is a good reminder not to get too wrapped up in all the sequels, reboots and superheroes this summer and forget that there's some really cool, original sci-fi coming your way. How is it that the new TV spot for 'Oblivion' somehow manages to look more epic and exciting than full theatrical trailer? There's no denying it -- there's tons of scope and promise in this 40 second spot, enough to actually make us excited for a movie by the guy who made the sleeping pill known as 'Tron Legacy.'
