'Transformers 4' is purportedly a soft reboot of the franchise, setting up an entirely new set of adventures and carrying on with a mostly new human cast. However, director Michael Bay is still at the helm, so it's no surprise it still, for better or worse, feels like the same thing. You already know if that delights or horrifies you, and the latest TV spots aren't going to change your mind.
With the movie out in a month, the viral marketing for 'Transformers 4' has entered full swing and the results are certainly dramatic. Like the best online marketing gimmicks, a new series of videos and posters treat the world of 'Transformers' as actual reality and present themselves as anti-machine propaganda. A new teaser is actually a video asking humanity to never forget the invasion of Chicago by alien robots (as seen in 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon') and the new posters are propaganda signs, rallying people to "keep Earth human."
Could this be the summer of Kelsey Grammer? The 'Cheers' and 'Fraiser' star has made attempts at the big screen before (he played Beast in 'X-Men: The Last Stand'), but this year he stars in two of the summer's bigger sequels: 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' and 'The Expendables 3.' And now Grammer gets the spotlight in the latest TV spots for 'Transformers 4.'
'Transformers: Age of Extinction' has just debuted a new trailer, and it's been released just in time to play before this weekend's 'Godzilla.' It's as if Michael Bay and company are saying "yeah, you've may have a fire breathing gigantic lizard, but we've got fire breathing gigantic dinobots. Check. Mate."
Decepticons, beware! Optimus and his Autobot warriors are back, newly rebooted and with some heavy artillery they know how to wield -- and should come in handy against those Dinobots. The latest batch of 'Transformers 4' pics get up close with these sort-of familiar faces (as we just said, they got a rebooted design) and tease some serious action to come, as well as an "all is lost moment."
Hot on the heels of Mark Wahlberg receiving his achievement award at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards last night, Paramount unveiled the first official TV spot for 'Transformers 4,' ushering in a new era of 'Transformers' ... with Dinobots! We've also got a few new pics featuring Wahlberg striking some serious action poses.
'Transformers 4' has newly designed autobots, a whole new human cast and some pretty badass-looking dinobots, but according to director Michael Bay, all of that is just the tip of the iceberg. Ahead of the June 27 premiere, Bay revealed that 'Transformers 5' and 'Transformers 6' aren't as far off as we think, as 'Age of Extinction' will kickstart an all-new trilogy. Plus, the man with a penchant for explosions dropped a few new tidbits about the forthcoming dinobot-filled extravaganza.
Hasbro invited press to its 2014 Entertainment Brand Preview for the American International Toy Fair in New York City this weekend, during which time the brand debuted all its toy lines hitting shelves this coming year.
Among the offerings were 'Transformers 4,' 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2,' 'Captain America 2' and the animated 'Star Wars Rebels' TV series. We were on hand to snap a ton of pics, and while we already detailed the coming merchandise and promo art for Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' here are some of the other toys we're excited about.
