Though 'Twilight' has its Twi-hards, it seems the latest TV spot for 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2' is looking to broaden the audience by selling the scale of the final chapter of the 'Twilight' films to people who may have written off the franchise.
We're still a bit away from the conclusion of the 'Twilight' franchise 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' as the film doesn't open until November 16, but to tide fans over is a new clip of Bella (Kristen Stewart) showing off her new powers, which involves being an excellent arm wrestler.
The moment it became apparent that the 'Twilight' series was to adapt its entire four-book saga for the movies, and perhaps even before, the 'Harry Potter' franchise comparisons flew. And like the 'Harry Potter' franchise, studios figured that by splitting the final installment of a franchise into two films, the hype and box-office gross could grow to enormous proportions. Still, by their repsective ends 'Harry Potter' will have a full three movies on 'Twilight,' so how could bigwigs possibly bridge that gulf? Did somebody say 'Twilight,' the TV series?
For the last official movie poster promoting 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2,' Summit Entertainment made us work for it. As opposed to Warner Bros. who's in the midst of releasing poster after poster of 'The Hobbit' sans all the dramatic movie scenes, the 'Breaking Dawn' team took us on a little scavenger hunt by releasing bits of the final poster one section at a time over the past couple days.
Don't worry, we're not saying you have to go searching for all of them this very second. The final poster is up in full and you can check it out below.
Thanks to the efforts of literary giant Stephanie Meyer, the vampire has been forever and (using a vocab word she loves so much) “irrevocably” transformed. No longer does this mythological monster hide in the shadows of gorey horror flicks, but instead it emerges into the mainstream spotlight, literally sparkling and wanting to fall in love with young, mortal teens.
Once that first 'Twilight' book hit the shelves, the saga's bite out of pop culture spawned a bloodsucker-obsessed cult following with an insatiable thirst for anything vampire related. Luckily, they were given more in the form of HBO's ‘True Blood,’ where again our preconceived images of bloodsuckers were modified to incorporate the softer side of being a cursed immortal, followed close behind by ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and more ‘Twilight’ movies. Little did we know, however, if we were going to embrace vampires, werewolves and zombies weren’t far behind; and so began the reigns of Joe Manganiello, ‘The Walking Dead,’ ‘Teen Wolf’ and zombie films galore.
So, are we finally close to being done with this monster apocalypse? Are we ready to set aside vampires and move on to the next fad? If young adult fiction is our prophet, then the answer is not yet, but soon.
Every movie wants to get in on the post-credits bandwagon, the most recent one being 'The Avengers'' sneak peek at Thanos, but apparently 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' is trying to join in. Certainly a surprising film to feature a stinger, most would probably agree, but it's been such a fan-driven series that it has to be considered something of a parting gift to the folks who made it so huge.
All right, 'Twilight' fans, your big day is approaching: Summit is bring you a five-film marathon of the entire series, culminating in the premiere of 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2.' Grab your Team Jacob and Team Edward shirts and hats and flashlights or whatever it is you crazy kids are into these days and get ready for a full day of 'Twilight' insanity.
Just as the last MTV Movie Awards featured a brand new 'Dark Knight Rises' trailer, the network had to pull something just as big for the VMAs on Thursday night; and there wasn't anything the MTV demographic wanted to see more than the first look at the final 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' trailer... except just maybe the 'Gym, Tan, Look Back' episode of 'Jersey Shore.'
