Known for his work in the horror genre, James Wan has stepped behind the camera for something a little more action-packed with 'Fast and Furious 7.' We've gotten a peek at some of the interesting new cars being used in the film, but now star Vin Diesel is giving us a sneak preview of his own with these new photos of his character Dom (alongside co-star Paul Walker) on the set of the sequel.

It was announced over the summer that Vin Diesel will be voicing Groot in 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' but the actor has also been hinting at his involvement with a bigger Marvel project for Phase 3, which we won't see for a few more years. While it's all still very vague and hush-hush, the actor recently confirmed his further involvement with the studio, teasing the mysterious new project and hinting at a "merging of brands." All right, Vin, we're listening.

With the impending release of 'Riddick,' we're once again introduced to the character who truly put Vin Diesel on the map. You might even say he's the quintessential Diesel role, except you'd then have to be reminded of how perfect the actor is in the 'Fast & Furious' movies as Dom Toretto. So who is more badass, Toretto or Richard B. Riddick?

'Riddick' Review

It should have been called ‘No Homo: The Movie.’
Vin Diesel, whose entire career feels like homage to the musclebound machismo of the 1980s, has possibly reached the peak – by which I mean, nadir – of his search for the meaning of virility. ‘Riddick,’ the overdue, and largely unwanted, third installment in Diesel’s first big film series, is so full of tough-guy overcompensation that it makes the ‘Fast and Furious’ movies seem like understated character studies by comparison.

Ever since it was announced that Vin Diesel was "in talks" to join 'Guardians of the Galaxy' as Groot, it seemed like the casting was a done deal and that it must have been the only reason that Diesel was meeting with Marvel (which he had teased weeks earlier). According to this recent interview, both assumptions are wrong.

First 'Riddick' Clip: Vin Diesel Survives an Alien Ambush

After the overblown and overlong 'The Chronicles of Riddick,' it's something of a relief to see Vin Diesel's tough, sci-fi antihero return to his roots with 'Riddick.' The trailers have already sold a smaller, bloodier, more 'Pitch Black'-esque story and the newly released first clip from the film emphasize the most important part of the whole film: Diesel going mano-a-mano with a bunch of snarling extraterrestrial beasties.

Not content to be involved with only two franchises, Vin Diesel has his sights set on another possible franchise opportunity. The actor is attached to 'Soldiers of the Sun,' an original sci-fi story that could very well lead to more sequels and more cash money for the action star.

Riddick With Googly Eyes

'Riddick' (and the previous movies 'Pitch Black' and 'The Chronicles of Riddick') tells the tale of Richard B. Riddick (seriously!), one of the last of the Furyan race who possess the ability to see in the dark with their foggy, white eyes. But, what if instead of eyes that allowed them to see in the dark, Riddick just had googly eyes? This is a question for which we have an answer.
