It's no secret that Ron Burgundy loves three things: poetry, a glass of scotch and his friend Baxter. We already have a Ron Burgundy book and Ron Burgundy's Scotchy-Scotch-Scotch ice cream, so it's time for Baxter to have his shot at the big time. Now 'Anchorman 2' director Adam McKay says he wants to work on a kid-friendly 'Anchorman' spinoff that would follow the adventures of Baxter and the son of Ron Burgundy.

It's no secret that director Adam McKay loves to let his actors improv and riff, sometimes repeating the same scene dozens of times and creating new material with every take. With 2004's 'Anchorman,' McKay had so much additional material that he was able to create an additional film, titled 'Wake Up, Ron Burgundy' for the DVD release. With 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' right around the corner, he's revealed a far more ambitious (and insane) plan.

No one was exactly surprised to hear that 'Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23' had been pulled from the ABC schedule, effectively cancelling the series, but the timing of the show's removal may yet have produced a bit of good luck. Series lead Krysten Ritter has reportedly landed the lead role in forthcoming NBC pilot 'Assistance,' to be executive produced by FunnyOrDie founders Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, but will Ritter have better luck this time around? Sadly, outside of the occasional Old Milwaukee commercial, occasional 'SNL' appearance, or maybe even the latest episode of 'Bitch Hunter,' we're unlikely to see Will Ferrell take any regular presence on the small screen again.  That's okay though, considering the imminent arrival of 'Anchorman 2' with director Adam McKay, and an upcoming NBC series with both behind the camera!  And hey, why not throw in a little Anne Heche for good measure?  Who's ready for 'Bad Judge?'

Though 'Anchorman 2' isn't due out until sometime next year, and shooting has yet to commence, the script is being worked on and writer/director Adam McKay was out promoting something else when the sequel came up. He dropped some nuggets about the film, including that it's likely to have at least one musical number.

Dynamite Entertainment
Every director out there has his or her dream project that they hope to get on the big screen one day, but the thing about those movies is that half of the time they don't even pass the development stage. Maybe luck has finally reached director Adam McKay's side for his long in-development project 'The Boys' if Paramount has anything to do with it.

Forget all about the Upfronts and the new shows of the season, this is the project we want to see! It seems our favorite duo from 'The Other Guys' are reuniting along with comedian Rob Riggle to develop a new period comedy for HBO. But our question is, will Ferrell (get it? Will Ferrell) and Mark Wahlberg actually star, or leave all the funny duties to Riggle himself?
