It’s been near of a year since we’ve heard anything from the front of Starz’s take on Neil Gaiman novel American Gods, but like the deities themselves, a formal greenlight simply lay in wait. Now, Starz has confirmed that American Gods will officially move forward, as Gaiman and writer Bryan Fuller move onto casting Shadow Moon.

A few weeks ago we learned the unfortunate reasoning behind HBO's decision to pass on the long-gestating adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 'American Gods,' somewhat dashing hope the series might ever get made. Now, the 'American Gods' have found new life under development from Starz, with 'Hannibal' creator Bryan Fuller and 'Heroes'' Michael Green at the helm.
Like many other beloved novels and comes, Neil Gaiman's 'American Gods' has long languished through the adaptation process, recently receiving second life as a potential TV series through Fremantle Media after HBO's initial option to adapt the fantasy novel fell through. And while we've no word on where the 'American Gods' might land next, HBO head Michael Lombardo has at least offered up the premium cable's reason behind passing on the property.
Stop us if you've heard this one before, but after a long period in development, it seems 'Sandman' creator Neil Gaiman's fantasy drama series 'American Gods' will be getting the TV treatment in the near future, courtesy of FremantleMedia. HBO had previously been in the running to adapt the revered fantasy novel, but will 'American Gods' finally come to reality after all?
