Following a less-than-stellar outing with 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' star Josh Hutcherson and a holiday break, 'SNL' will return this weekend with its first of three major December installments. This time out, the sketch comedy show will return 'Anchorman' star Paul Rudd to the stage for his third hosting duty and his first alongside UK sensation One Direction.

He's Kind of a Big Deal: Meet the Anchorman Who Was the Real Life Ron Burgundy

Back in 2000, Will Ferrell was winding down as the star of 'Saturday Night Live' (he would leave after that season ended). He had a series of smaller, supporting roles in movies like 'Austin Powers' and 'Zoolander' but had yet to break through in a leading role. His search for the right project was jumpstarted one night when he was at home, watching an A&E 'Biography' special when he came upon a man who would spark inspiration and change both Ferrell's career and the modern state of comedy forever.
That man, that anchorman, was Mort Crim.

'Anchorman 2': Watch Ron Burgundy Anchor a Real Local Newscast

'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' took viral marketing to an entirely new level tonight when Will Ferrell dropped by a local newscast in North Dakota and helped anchor an entire show! That's right, Ron Burgundy himself co-anchored Bismarck's local CBS news affiliate's evening show -- all 30 minutes of it. It's not joke, either. Ferrell -- or Burgundy, rather -- took the whole thing pretty seriously, but that doesn't mean it's not pretty hilarious to watch!

Adam McKay is releasing a new film in December, and it’s kind of a big deal.
'Anchorman 2,' one of the few films that truly earns the description “highly anticipated,” arrives in theaters December 20, and the filmmaker is in the final days of editing the film down, paring out superfluous bits, rejiggering set pieces, and swapping out jokes to ensure that audiences thoroughly split their sides watching the overdue reunion of Ron Burgundy, Veronica Corningstone, Champ Kind, Brian Fantana and Brick Tamland.
McKay invited us inside the 'Anchorman 2' edit bay, where he showcased a couple of scenes from the film and offered a few details about what audiences might expect to see. In addition to elaborating on possible plans to release multiple versions of the film in the same way they did with the original 'Anchorman,' McKay explained their massively complicated process of arranging and assembling all of the footage they shoot, and offered perspective on the longevity and the legacy of Anchorman, as Burgundy and his news team prepare to return to the screen.
And, he's such a nice guy, he even gave us three new 'Anchorman 2' posters to share with you featuring James Marsden, Meagan Good and a hilarious Kristen Wiig.

It's no secret that Ron Burgundy loves three things: poetry, a glass of scotch and his friend Baxter. We already have a Ron Burgundy book and Ron Burgundy's Scotchy-Scotch-Scotch ice cream, so it's time for Baxter to have his shot at the big time. Now 'Anchorman 2' director Adam McKay says he wants to work on a kid-friendly 'Anchorman' spinoff that would follow the adventures of Baxter and the son of Ron Burgundy.

We've seen some odd product placement/endorsement deals in our time, but this one just might take the cake. With a slogan that reads, "Give your little Anchorman the support he needs," 'Anchorman 2' and Jockey have teamed up for a series of Ron Burgundy-inspired tighty-whiteys. Except they're not white and come in colors like "Sex Panther Red" and "Beard of Zeus Blue."

What would make seeing Ron Burgundy reunite with his Channel 4 news team on the big screen in 'Anchorman 2' even better? Seeing it before everyone else, obviously!
Paramount is copying, well, themselves by offering up an 'Anchorman 2' superticket, which will allow its purchasers to see the kind-of-a-big-deal sequel two days before it hits theaters wide on December 20. But it'll cost yah.
