Not to be confused with Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book, which hits theaters next week, Andy Serkis’ Jungle Book: Origins — aka That Other Jungle Book Movie — is still very much in development at Warner Bros. On the heels of today’s news that the studio is scaling back the number of blockbusters they put out each year, Serkis’ film has been pushed back from 2017 to 2018.

Yes, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been in theaters for a couple of weeks now, but there's a couple of characters who were missing from the publicity materials, kept mostly secret until the film's release. Lucasfilm has debuted some official photos of Maz Kanata and Supreme Leader Snoke, while Serkis shoots down any ideas about our familiarity with his new Star Wars baddie.

The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens isn’t just a casual coffee table book filled with concept art that inspired the film’s designs — it also offers a wealth of interesting information regarding several of the major characters, their origins, alternate designs, and several elements that either evolved or were excised completely during production. For instance, Supreme Leader Snoke was almost a woman, and Poe Dameron was nearly a Jedi or a bounty hunter instead of a pilot.

In between mo-capping his way through Star Wars and the Planet of the Apes movies, Andy Serkis is also making his directorial debut with Jungle Book: Origins, a gritty take on the classic Rudyard Kipling story about a young orphan boy raised in the wild among talking animals — and no, Serkis is not playing all of the animals. Before that film even hits theaters, the actor and mo-cap innovator has reportedly attached himself to another gritty reimagining of a classic story, this time from the world of fairy tales.

Hey, whaddya know? It’s another TV spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and now that we’re only three weeks away from finally seeing it on the big screen, Disney’s been dropping more and more new footage. The latest preview is an extended TV spot, about the runtime of your average teaser trailer, and features more footage of Kylo Ren and more voiceover from the mysterious General Snoke. In addition, the official soundtrack listing has been revealed and no, it doesn’t spoil anything like the Episode I track list did.

As promised late last week when Matt Reeves debuted the official logo, War for the Planet of the Apes delivered a special announcement during this week’s episode of The Walking Dead — though you might have been a bit busy rolling your eyes at that whole Glenn thing. In case you missed it, the video has arrived online offering a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming sequel as well as an invitation to fans to audition for a small role in the film.

Director Matt Reeves has officially begun filming War for the Planet of the Apes, as evidenced by a new photo from the set which features a scene that may be familiar to fans of the long-running franchise. In addition, Reeves has revealed that he’s shooting the film in 65mm, and although only a few cast members have been announced, we’re sure to hear more about the next installment very soon.
