Archer Season 8 seemed pretty touch-and-go for a few minutes last year, between that cliffhanger ending and a delayed renewal, and now another notable change seems to be afoot. Archer will follow a number of FX comedies in making the move to FXX, getting closer to a spring 2017 premiere for Season 8.

The seventh season finale of Archer left it … unclear how the series would proceed with its title character, even if a three-season renewal guaranteed it. Now, all is revealed, as a complete and total reset of the series will give Archer a dreamy new setting in Season 8.

FX’s Archer renewal came down to the wire this year, though a three-season guarantee through 2019 pretty well ensured Sterling would live through that Season 7 cliffhanger. Still, creators believe Season 10 will likely be the last for the team, potentially even with shortened episode runs at that.

Boy howdy, is it a good thing FX opted to renew Archer for three seasons, lest Comic-Con 2016 get seriously awkward. The animated spy comedy will officially take aim at Comic-Con 2016 with a full appearance, along with an early look at The Strain Season 3, but what’s missing from the lineup?

Anyone keeping up with the seventh season of FX’s Archer likely panicked over its finale cliffhanger, especially as the network had yet to confirm additional seasons. Now, Figgis Detective Agency (or whatever we’re doing next) will be back in spades, as FX confirms a whopping three (!) more seasons for Archer.

After a delayed start in 2016, this Thursday will see the Archer gang returning in yet another new role, the days of organized spywork largely behind them. And while we wouldn’t expect “ISIS” to return anytime soon, creator Adam Reed says the team will stick to their new line of private eye work beyond Season 7, while talk of a movie and series’ ending begins to swirl.

If ever we felt short of Archer for moving to a March premiere, FX has more than made up for the slight. Following the first trailers, check in on Sterling, Lana, Cyril, Pam, Cheryl, Krieger and Mallory with a whopping eight new promos for Season 7, as the team moves to Los Angeles!

Our first look at Archer Season 7 memorably recreated Magnum P.I. shot for shot, albeit only offering a few clues toward the team’s newest iteration. Now, “Hollywood’s Biggest Dicks” have arrived in the first first Season 7 trailer, opening up a detective agency on the West Coast.

FX’s Archer made up for a late start to the year with an impressive shot-for-shot remake of the Magnum P.I. opening credits, but it seems the Tom Selleck spoof was more than homage. Our first Season 7 details confirm the former spy team will move to California to start a new agency, with guest turns from J.K. Simmons to Patton Oswalt.

Archer took a bit longer than usual getting back to business in Season 7, promising a new direction on the road to its March premiere. We can’t say for sure that direction will be adapting every episode of Magnum P.I. shot for shot, but nevertheless, add it to the ranks of the FX animated comedy’s pitch-perfect parodies.
