Earlier today The CW's Arrow and Flash spinoff Legends of Tomorrow peeled back the veil of secrecy for a first look at its cast, and now the entire curtain has come down. Resurrected Canaries, Vandal Savages and shrinking Atoms await in the first official trailer for The CW's Legends of Tomorrow!
NBC’s cancellation of Constantine set off the familiar scramble to find the series a new home, though showrunner Daniel Cerone seemed optimistic The CW might look to add to its growing DC stable, with whom crossover talks have already occurred. Not so it seems, as The CW may not be Constantine’s salvation after all.
Both Arrow and The Flash will marvel at their own magnificence in giving birth to the time-traveling Legends of Tomorrow spinoff, and while the DC drama has plenty of mysteries to unpack, we’re crossing two off the list. Not only do we at last know who Caity Lotz is playing by the show’s first photo, but so too has The CW specified when the Legends of Tomorrow will premiere. No, it’s not tomorrow.
All season long, Arrow has steadily dismantled its core characters and story conventions to allow Oliver to ascend to the throne of Ra's al Ghul, and tonight's Season 3 finale "My Name is Oliver Queen" took things way, way further. Not only is the Arrow officially no more, but several others fell, and two characters may never return to Starling City. You know, until Season 4.
Arrow Season 3 will wind down this week as Constantine frantically scours the tube for a new home after its NBC cancellation, but could the two end up intertwined? Stephen Amell has expressed an interest in doing a crossover with DC’s demon-fighting detective, which apparently has almost come to fruition before.
Well, we didn’t need any superpowered time-travelers to see this one coming. Given the breakout success of both Arrow and The Flash, soon to culminate in another Season 3 crossover, the much-hyped teamup spinoff is officially a go at The CW. Are you ready to meet DC’s Legends of Tomorrow?
Anyone who caught last night’s Arrow installment “This Is Your Sword” may have been somewhat alarmed by the final minutes, in which … well, everyone seemed to die. Apparently, The CW intends to continue the series after all, releasing a full-length trailer and photos for next week’s Season 3 finale “My Name Is Oliver Queen.” FINE.
Much as we’ve enjoyed reviewing and recapping Arrow for the past three years, tonight’s “This is Your Sword” brought it all to a screeching halt, killing off … well, just about everyone. Sure, there’s Season 4 to think about, The Flash, and even that much-hyped spinoff, but what can we do? Everyone’s dead. It’s been real, y’all!
Both Arrow and The Flash have sustained plenty of crossover in their first seasons occupying the same cinematic universe, but with either finale only weeks away, worlds in crisis will undoubtedly collide. Now, we know for certain that Barry Allen will race over to Arrow once more for the Season 3 finale, putting some flash in “My Name is Oliver Queen.”
