Zack Snyder recently revealed that he sought and received Christopher Nolan’s blessing for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (though it really sounded like Nolan just didn’t care), but he wasn’t the only one looking for approval for the upcoming superhero epic. Ben Affleck says that he also went to his Batman predecessors — not for their blessing, but for some helpful Bat-tips.

Actor Scoot McNairy stars in Batman vs. Superman, this much we know. His casting was announced and there are photos of him on set filming scenes from the movie. What we don’t know is who he plays in the film. We’ve heard reports that McNairy is playing everyone from The Flash to Metallo to Jimmy Olsen. Boy, these new Barbie body types are sure getting really specific. I mean, it makes sense for Mattel to attempt to reach a broader, more diverse audience by releasing new Barbies that better match the girls and young women of the world, but aging, rich white dude with trust issues hardly seems like it will strike the right chord. The only thing this might strike is fear into the hearts of criminals. Though Mattel had announced the full DC Trinity (in their Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice garb) would be getting the Barbie treatment at San Diego Comic-Con last year, the only doll anyone got to see was Wonder Woman. The Amazonian princess certainly looked the part, but nobody really knew what to expect from a potential Batman or Superman at the time. With Toy Fair 2016 right around the corner, and Mattel having a large Barbie and DC Comics presence at the show, it seemed like we might get our first glimpse at the Bruce and Clark Ken dolls in a few weeks. Thanks to Amazon, we no longer have to wait for Batman.

For the past year or so, Hot Toys has been teasing life-size statues of its licensed figures from the Marvel, Star Wars and DC Comics universes. Though the gigantic pieces have typically been "display only" and never put up for sale, there was always a feeling Hot Toys was taking the temperature of fan interest in taking a giant Chris Evans or Hulkbuster home. Given Hot Toys' adoration of Iron Man, many speculated a life-size Tony Stark would be the first to make the leap to the consumer market. That's not the case however, and today Hot Toys surprised everyone by revealing the life-size Armored Batman as the first in this new 1:1 scale series. Now I've stuck up for the look of this suit despite my general feelings of malaise towards Dawn of Justice, and that holds true to this larger version as well. The armored batsuit is well-designed armor outfit that's hard to find fault with... to a degree. It's pretty damn accurate to the comic it's based on, and like I've said before, it maintains Batman's striking silhouette even though it's a giant metal suit. When kept at the 1:1 size ratio, which makes Batman here a hefty 6' 4", the more questionable design elements stand out a bit more. I'm talking about that cod piece.
