There’s a whole lot going on in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice — iconic superheroes clashing, the introduction of a new Batman and all of his many (many, many) gadgets, Wonder Woman’s debut, mega-villains, mega-plots…but let’s hope that Snyder can deliver on his promise of creating grounded, interesting characters amid all that racket. In a new interview, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill talk a bit about those characters, their motivations and how things have changed since Man of Steel.

How serious is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? In the great contemporary, gritty traditions of Batman and Zack Snyder, this movie is taking itself very seriously. All Jesse Eisenbergs aside, Dawn of Justice is taking itself so seriously that Warner Bros. might be releasing it in 70mm so you can see all the brooding and grit and the dawning of justice the way it was meant to be seen.
Of all the marketing for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the viral content surrounding Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor has to be the silliest. Eisenberg (or a very game WB intern) already gave one interview as the famous Superman villain, and now he's given us another because Warner Bros. really, really wants us to believe that Lex Luthor — like Santa and The Struggle and pro-wrestling — is real. And in related news, there's also a new photo of this supposedly non-fictional character.
It’s always darkest before the dawn. Or, in this case, a Zack Snyder superhero movie.
The most recent trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice featured quite the climactic moment, with classic Superman baddie Doomsday making a huge, intimidating entrance — intimidating enough to elicit an “Oh, s—t” from Ben Affleck’s Batman before Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman enters the fray to show off her impressive strength. And while the trailer appears to suggest that the Doomsday battle is the real climax, the film’s production designer says that the villain isn’t “the final act.”
With every new Batman comes a new Batmobile, new Bat-gadgets, new Bat-suit, new Bat-cave, new Bat-mansion — new Bat-everything. He probably also has new Bat-soap and a new Bat-shoe rack. It’s going to be hard to keep up with all of Bruce Wayne’s fancy new toys when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (aka Batman, and Also Somewhat Superman) hits theaters next spring, since you’ll already be pretty occupied trying to keep up with three heroes, two superhero cameos, and probably something like five villains.
Before they dropped the new, full trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last week, Warner Bros. debuted that brief, dreamlike teaser featuring Ben Affleck’s Batman chained up in a cave, with Henry Cavill’s Superman arriving to furiously unmask him. As many speculated, that scene is indeed part of a larger dream sequence, as confirmed by the film’s costume designer. Also confirmed: another DC superhero cameo we had previously been uncertain about seeing.
The brand new Batman vs. Superman trailer debuted late last night, and if you haven’t watched it already, you can watch it above right now. If you have watched it already…well, feel free to watch it again. And then join us as we break down the trailer to see what secrets are stored inside.
