Better Call Saul

The legacy of Breaking Bad is challenging to live up to, even as the acclaimed Better Call Saul heads into its second season in a few weeks. Still, its parent series looms large, as AMC collects all the Breaking Bad references in one Better Call Saul video before Season 2.

However the first season of Better Call Saul ended, Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill has plenty badder to break in the coming years, especially over the Breaking Bad prequel’s second season. Our first clip from the second year has arrived, in which the future Saul Goodman is already starting to break the rules.

Knowing the ending, or even the ending’s ending isn’t a spoiler when it comes to prequels, right? After all, we may know where Better Call Saul ultimately ends up, but the erstwhile Jimmy McGill still has a few lines to cross by the time Season 2 premiere. Prequels shouldn’t suck all the fun out of a given story, and AMC’s Better Call Saul went a long way in Season 1 toward eking out from Breaking Bad’s shadow. Case in point, Saul is front and center (with a fellow alum or two) in the latest colorful key art for the 2016 premiere of Saul’s Season 2 return.

It wasn’t any surprise when AMC swiftly renewed Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul for a second season ahead of its first premiere, at the time promising 13 episodes to the inaugural run’s ten. Now that Season 2 has set a February 2016 premiere, however, the episode order has apparently been reduced to the same ten as its predecessor.

Breaking Bad alum Bob Odenkirk had himself a banner weekend returning to Mr. Show by way of Netflix’s W/ Bob and David, but 2016 will see the man returning to an even more iconic role. AMC has officially set a 2016 premiere for Better Call Saul Season 2, and ol’ Slippin’ Jimmy is on the rise once more.

The first season finale for AMC’s Better Call Saul made it clear that ol’ “Slippin’ Jimmy” might not keep his earnest side much longer, but is Saul Goodman finally on the way? That’s the size of it by Season 2's first official teaser trailers, while Bob Odenkirk does his best to stay straight in the Season 1 gag reel.

The 2015 Emmy Awards have reached their biggest award of the night, and only one can win the statue. Game of Thrones has officially taken home the statue for Outstanding Drama Series, and very surprisingly so.

Even if we know where Jimmy McGill ends up, it’s been awhile since we’ve heard from Better Call Saul, at least after the recent Emmy noms. Now, the Breaking Bad prequel releases its first photo of the new, expanded season hitting screens in early 2016, and the future Saul doesn’t appear too happy to have been called.
