Is Blofeld the ‘Spectre’ Villain? Director Sam Mendes Addresses the Rumors
Almost as soon as Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz was attached to star in Spectre, the rumors began that he would be playing legendary James Bond villain Ernst Blofeld. Yet, when the cast was officially announced (via a press conference in London), Waltz was announced as playing “Franz Oberhauser”. In the time since, 007 fans have debated whether this is all an elaborate ruse (not unlike the Benedict Cumberbatch / John Harrison / Khan Star Trek Into Darkness debacle), or whether Waltz really and truly is not playing Blofeld. Now, Spectre director Sam Mendes has finally chimed in to try and clear things up.

The identity of the performer chosen to sing the new James Bond theme song is almost always as exciting as the buildup to the release of the film itself — even British bookies have placed odds on which pop star would sing the theme for Spectre, with Sam Smith coming in as the heavy favorite. Smith has previously denied his involvement and feigned obliviousness, but it looks like the singer / songwriter has recorded the new Bond theme after all.

The New ‘Spectre’ Poster Features a Snazzy Suit and a Scary Skull
After the success of Skyfall, all Spectre needed to do was announce a release date and audiences would flock to the 24th James Bond adventure without any help. Its posters don’t even have to be particularly clever – all they need is Daniel Craig’s handsome mug, a gun, and maybe a sharp-looking suit. The latest poster has all of that and some guy in a creepy skull mask, so let’s call this one a little better than average.

‘Spectre’ May Be Daniel Craig’s Last James Bond Movie
Daniel Craig was cast as James Bond back in October 2005 and almost immediately there was controversy. A London newspaper ran the headline the next morning “The Name’s Bland – James Bland” and fans started up the site danielcraigisnotbond.com urging moviegoers to boycott Casino Royale. Now, three films into Craig’s era as 007 (with the last being the most critically and commercially successful James Bond film of all-time), the actor is talking about leaving the franchise and, in a sign of how far public opinion has reversed, fans couldn’t be more upset.
