It may not have Miley Cyrus in the lead, but History and Lifetime's collaborative 'Bonnie & Clyde' miniseries will prove to be a star-studded affair nonetheless. Previously casting Hollywood stars William Hurt and Holly Hunter, the upcoming miniseries has finally cast its iconic leads with 'Into the Wild' star Emile Hirsch and 'The Borgias' star Holliday Grainger. Will the updated 'Bonnie & Clyde' prove a modern classic akin to 'Hatfields and McCoys,' or end up shot by the roadside?
Boy, we were more serious than we knew when we said that these days all one needed to do to get a pilot green-lit was bring classic characters into the modern day. Whether Thomas Edison, Sherlock, 'Alice in Wonderland' or 'Great Expectations,' now it seems 'Bonnie & Clyde' are to capture the hearts of the modern day next. FOX has put forth a modern version of the classic crime duo for development, but what makes their tale different than its 20th century predecessor?
It's hard to think of Miley Cyrus as anything other than Hannah Montana, even now when she's smoking bongs, cutting her hair to look like Draco Malfoy and getting engaged to 'The Hunger Games' heartthrob Liam Hemsworth. Perhaps if she lands a gig on the Lifetime network playing one of the most infamously recognized criminals in history, she'll be able to completely break that image.
