We still don’t have the clearest picture of what Bryan Fuller’s CBS All-Access Star Trek could look like in 2017, but out of the Mutara Nebula comes a familiar face. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan writer/director Nicholas Meyer will return to the franchise for its newest TV iteration, both as writer and producer.

CBS has kept mum on details of a new Star Trek TV series since the announcement that it would debut on CBS All-Access in 2017, and its first announcement brings mostly good news. First off, Hannibal and American Gods showrunner Bryan Fuller will return to his Star Trek past to topline the new series!

At long last, Starz and Bryan Fuller’s American Gods adaptation finally pulled back the curtain on Shadow Moon last week, ahead of much more casting to come. Adapting Neil Gaiman’s work can be tricky, but now Fuller reveals at least one novel character to play a huge role in Starz’s coming series.

Having already been in development for years, Starz’s upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods had its most challenging task in casting the lead role of Shadow Moon. Now, Bryan Fuller’s take has finally found its lead, bringing in The 100 breakout Ricky Whittle for the iconic role.

Hulu’s first trailer for The Path gave us a peek at Hugh Dancy’s next role, though many a Hannibal fan keeps hope that Bryan Fuller will one day reunite Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen for another chapter. Fuller has long kept vague on the mystery plot to a potential fourth season, though Dancy gave some tantalizing clues that “took us back to the first season.”

It’s been some time since we’ve heard from the front of Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller’s Starz adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, last said to be dependent on casting its lead “Shadow Moon.” Whatever progress has been made at least, Starz confirms that production will begin this year, in Canada.

The release of Hannibal Season 3 on Blu-ray has served a banquet unto itself, between revelations of who cooked that finale leg, and our own full interview with Bryan Fuller, but one particular aspect of the finale has had fans salivating for months. One of television’s goriest and most cinematic (b)romances came to an end this year when the Season 3 finale of Hannibal served as the series finale (at least for now). It felt like a suitable ending when (spoiler alert) Hugh Dancy’s Will and Mad Mikkelsen’s Hannibal killed the Red Dragon together followed by a literal cliffhanger that saw the pair falling off a cliff in full-embrace. It was gloriously bloody, emotional and gorgeous, all the elements that made Hannibal one of the most stunning and daring shows on network TV.

The Hannibal series finale lefts fans salivating for more answers, but sadly we were only left with a cooked leg. Now we finally know the identity of the chef who cooked it.

As with prior seasons, Hannibal ended Season 3 conclusively enough to satisfy its fans, while still leaving plenty of room to return. The race to re-seat Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen at Bryan Fuller’s table has long since cooled, but Mikkelsen thinks it might not happen if Hannibal isn’t revived in the next year.
