Last February, it was announced that Universal Pictures had won a bidding war for an untitled R-rated musical comedy written by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the screenwriter behind 21 Jump Street. While little was known about the film at the time, Variety reported that Godon-Levitt had also enlisted Channing Tatum  —  noted dancer and Professional Handsome Man  —  to co-star with him in the film. Since that announcement, things were pretty quiet about the project until just this past week, where suddenly a flurry of updates were released by Universal Pictures.

News of Channing Tatum’s Gambit movie has become redundant, what with all the times it was allegedly going to “begin filming early next year.” Today, X-Men series producer and writer Simon Kinberg offers another update on the delayed spinoff, assuring fans that it’s still very much in development and they have every intention of hopefully, maybe, possibly filming it next year — but hey, ask again in six months and we’ll see what’s up then.

Logan Lucky marks Steven Soderbergh’s return to directing after coming out of “retirement” after his 2013 movie Side Effects, and as such it’s one of the most anticipated movies of this year. Today is a great, great day, because not only do we get our first official look at Daniel Craig, Channing Tatum, and Adam Driver’s characters, but we also get a release date that’s two months earlier than expected!

Last month, it was announced that Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum were in talks to team up for Triple Frontier, a film set in the crime-ridden border zone between three South American countries. It looks like they’re not only both a done deal, they’re also getting a third member to round out the cast: Moonlight and Luke Cage star and recent SAG Award winner Mahershala Ali.

When you hear talk of the standalone Gambit movie, most — well, pretty much all — of it has the word “delay” in there somewhere. The movie started off strong: Channing Tatum signed on for the title character, it had a director, and everything looked good. Then, the first delay happened, it lost director Rupert Wyatt, got a new one, and was delayed some more. But fans of the trickster need not lose hope yet: X-Men producer Laura Schuler Donner says Tatum is still signed on to do a standalone Gambit movie in the future. We just don’t know when.

Earlier this month producer Brian Grazer let slip that he was working with Disney on a new remake of Splash, which would reimagine Ron Howard’s 1984 classic with a bit of a twist. And while Grazer was annoyingly coy about it, we all assumed that it would have something to do with gender-swapping the lead roles — and that assumption has proven correct, as Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell have signed on to star in the remake, which will apparently fulfill the dreams of those who have a very specific fetish.
