Some actors are chameleons who disappear into their roles — like Gary Oldman and his prosthetics, or Daniel Day-Lewis and his prestigious method Acting. But only one actor has a body that’s capable of transforming into myriad shapes and sizes, shrinking and expanding itself, seemingly at will, to inhabit any number of roles. That actor is Christian Bale, and for his latest experiment in testing the boundaries of good health, he’s morphed his oft-chiseled physique into a squishy human-shaped cushion to portray former Vice President Dick Cheney.

Christian Bale’s making a pretty strong case for his promotion to Everyone’s Favorite Method Actor when Daniel Day-Lewis retires later this year. The actor’s latest transformation is for the role of former Vice President Dick Cheney in Adam McKay’s upcoming film Backseat. Or so he says. I’m not entirely convinced this isn’t a clever excuse for Bale to chow down on some carbs and try out one of those weird and exhausting new eyebrow trends.

‘Hostiles’ Trailer: Christian Bale Crosses the Violent West
Oh boy. Hostiles looks like the kind of movie where you walk out of the theater and immediately cancel your plans for the rest of the day because there’s no way in hell you can interact with society after seeing something that heavy. That’s definitely the impression we’re getting from the first trailer for the latest film from Scott Cooper. The director of Black Mass and Out of the Furnace reunites with Christian Bale (who starred in the latter) for the new western, which recently impressed critics at Telluride.

Hot Toys' Joker Gets a Massive Upgrade For 'The Dark Knight' 10th Anniversary
Next year will be the 10th anniversary of the release of The Dark Knight, arguably one of the greatest superhero films ever made, and one of Christopher Nolan's most celebrated films. A lot of that is due to the performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker, which was sadly his last, but also one of his most iconic and memorable. His version of the Joker went from getting some of the most vitriol from fans in any casting announcement to becoming the version cosplayed and revered more than any other. In celebration of this anniversary, Hot Toys has announced an all-new quarter-scale version of its popular Joker figure, complete with a new portrait that honors the man behind the make-up.

Adam McKay’s establishing a reputation as Hollywood’s foremost chronicler of the biggest hot-button issues... of ten years ago. He made blackly satirical mince meat of the subprime lending crisis with The Big Short, stepping back into our recent past to expose the avarice still at play in the world of macroeconomics today. And for his next project, he’s going to take aim at a West Wing political player loathed and feared by liberals as a power-mad despot intent on destroying America. No, not him, we’re referring to a different wannabe fascist with the public graces of Darth Vader. To be specific, Dick Cheney.

Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac Are Romantic Rivals in ‘The Promise’ Trailer
Imagine that both handsome, rakish doctor Oscar Isaac and well-to-do bearded reporter Christian Bale are fighting for your hand in marriage. With two such dashing suitors fawning over you, it’d take something huge to spoil it, something like... a genocide. The new trailer for historical romance drama The Promise has all that and more, featuring a tortured courtship with nothing less than the epic sweep of militaristic annihilation for a backdrop. That, and Oscar Isaac’s handsome, permanently-stubbled face. In the parlance of Hollywood executives, that makes this a ‘four quadrant’ picture.

Fire up the Batcomputer for Some ‘Batman Begins’ Facts
If you’ve seen Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, you probably remember the great scene where Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) and Ducard (Liam Neeson) fight on a frozen lake. But did you know that all throughout the day Bale and Neeson shot this scene, they could hear cracks in the ice beneath their feet? When the crew returned to the lake the next day, the entire thing had thawed. Yikes. That’s just one of the facts featured in the newest episode of You Think You Know Movies!
