Aside from all the movie and TV panels at New York Comic-Con 2012, we were there for all the cosplayer action. Some of the standouts were the Red Pyramid, 'Prometheus' Engineer, the plethora of Captain America and Lokis, and, of course, all the hot babes in costume. So, with all this geek action going on, obviously the logical thing to do was play a much-needed game of "'Star Wars' vs. Italian Dish."

If you decided to check out the ‘Silent Hill: Revelation 3D’ panel through the New York Comic Con live stream, then you’ll know what we’re talking about when we say the place was packed with herds of Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harington-loving fans (some of which previously knocked over pole barriers trying to hold in their excitement in line). The NYCC 2012 panel, hosted by Fangoria Magazine Editor Tony Timpone was held in the IGN theater of the NYC Javits Center, and, besides the two leading actors, featured writer/director Michael J. Bassett and producer Samuel Hadida.

New York Comic Con 2012 is in full swing out of the Javits Center in NYC, and trust us when we say the attendees are just as amped about geekdom as the folks at San Diego a few months back. Since the start of day one, the hordes of thousands have been piling in to get a much-needed taste of comic books, video games, and their favorite shows and movies.

We were there at the front lines snapping shots of all the cosplayers and booths so you won't have to embrace the herd of 'The Waking Dead' lovers yourself (who, by the way, look all the more scary when they're mindlessly pushing and shoving each other beneath the giant 'Walking Dead' billboard).

A few months ago, Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego was packed with comic book nerds, cosplayers, TV and movie fanatics, and members of the press, all of whom were bustling from location to location trying to see as many events and panels as possible. Though we aimed to give you the best possible recaps of everything that happened during the private panels for 'The Walking Dead,' 'Game of Thrones,' Marvel Studios and the like, it sure would have made our jobs a lot easier to watch them streaming live from our laptops. That's something New York Comic-Con is trying to do better this year.

Comic-Con 2012 Interview: Director Neill Blomkamp Talks 'Elysium'

Director Neill Blomkamp's feature film debut 'District 9' took Comic-Con by storm in 2009. A science-fiction offering that managed to deliver stunning effects, cultural relevance, an original story and a tragically beautiful character arc in one fell swoop, 'D 9' thrust Blomkamp onto the world stage in a significant way and was eventually nominated for an Academy Award.

His follow-up film, 'Elysium,' is easily one of the most highly anticipated films of next year. Matt Damon, Jodi Foster and 'District 9''s Sharlto Copley star in the film which is "set in the year 2159, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of population reside on a ruined Earth. The story follows a man (Damon) who takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds."

We had the opportunity to sit down with Blomkamp at this year's Con to discuss the trend he sees in big Hollywood event films, what an actor's celebrity brings to a story and taking on politically charged cinema.
