With the unforgiving cold of the winter months nearly upon us, we may be feeling the impulse to settle down and get cozy with someone who makes us feel warm on the inside. Here to cut through the nesting instinct in our rapidly shortening days is the trailer for How to Be Single, a raunchy new rom-com vehicle for besties Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson.

In a development likely to give Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan some sense of relief, Universal has officially decided to shoot Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed back to back, giving its actors a chance to fulfill their commitments to the troubled franchise in one fell swoop. In addition, the studio has confirmed James Foley to direct both sequels, with author E.L. James’ husband Niall Leonard adapting both stories for the big screen.

If you saw 2009’s I Am Love, the family drama from director Luca Guadagnino, you’re going to want to see A Bigger Splash, Guadagnino’s new movie with his I Am Love star, the chameleonic Tilda Swinton. This time Swinton plays a rock star on vacation with her partner (Rust and Bone’s Matthias Schoenaerts), when the arrival of an ex played by Ralph Fiennes (and his daughter, played by Fifty Shades of Grey’s Dakota Johnson) throws their whole trip into chaos.

It’s been a couple of weeks since we heard about Universal’s short list of directors for Fifty Shades Darker, the second film in their Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. Today, it’s being reported that the studio has formally made an offer to their top pick, House of Cards and Glengarry Glen Ross director James Foley.

Fifty Shades of Grey has nearly $570 million in worldwide ticket sales, an enormous amount of anticipation for its two sequels, and an impressive collection of designer ties, whips, and riding crops. What it doesn’t have is a director for the next Fifty Shades film, Fifty Shades Darker, which is supposed to open in theaters in a year and a half, but is still searching for a filmmaker to replace Sam Taylor-Johnson. She left the franchise after not seeing eye-to-eye with Fifty Shades author E.L. James about the direction of the franchise.

For all the controversy and hubbub surrounding Fifty Shades of Grey, did you know that movies sex scenes only add up to 14 minutes of the film’s two hour and five minute runtime? That’s just 11% of what everyone went to see in the first place. The new ending isn’t so much an alternate version as it is an additional one, which is a bit more hopeful and teases the reunion of Anastasia and Christian in the sequel.

Just yesterday it was reported that Fifty Shades trilogy author E.L. James has hired her husband, fellow author Niall Leonard, to write the screenplay for Fifty Shades Darker. Now that a screenwriter has been set for the first sequel (and, if things go well, possibly the next one), Universal is starting to solidify their plans for the remaining films in the franchise. The studio has announced release dates for both sequels, with stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson expected to return.

SNL’s Saturday return didn’t quite get everyone talking as much as the 40th anniversary special, but still left us with a few teasing bits to enjoy.
