Like Daredevil before it, Marvel’s Jessica Jones has been mostly under wraps over the course of production, leaving fans eager for a taste of Netflix’s next Defenders series. You can now officially stop speculating, as Daredevil has completed the highly-anticipated task of casting Elektra. Elodie Yung, whom you may remember from G.I. Joe: Retaliation, has joined the cast of Season 2 in the role of the Greek ninja assassin and Matt Murdock’s new love interest. In addition, Netflix has also revealed the first teaser image for Season 2, promising Elektra’s imminent arrival.

There’s been plenty of debate over what role The Punisher will take in Daredevil Season 2, whether Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle will act as an opposing vigilante, or perhaps Matt Murdock’s new big bad altogether, but might Marvel point the way? Most Daredevil Season 2 news of late has focused on Jon Bernthal’s surprise announcement as The Punisher, though plenty of roles remain to be filled when Netflix’s man without fear returns in 2016. A new rumor suggests one such role could be a Boardwalk Empire reunion, as Vincent Piazza joins former co-star Charlie Cox for an unknown role.

Late last week, news that Daredevil Season 2 might target Spy star and action hero Jason Statham for the villainous Bullseye was met with near-overwhelming acclaim, and today those million voices crying out have been suddenly silenced. Statham has apparently dropped out of Daredevil negotiations, and even taken a swipe at Marvel to boot.

Marvel’s Netflix Daredevil gave us a small peek under the mask with news that iconic assassin Elektra might throw her sais in Season 2, but the comic company may have hit a much bigger target. Marvel has reportedly set its sights on Jason Statham as Daredevil antagonist Bullseye, while the Man Without Fear’s second season may also set up a major Spider-Man connection.

Marvel’s TV universe has long-proven rocky to chart against the cinematic ventures, crossovers often occurring at face value, if at all. Now, a new report suggests that the TV branch may court a larger presence in the next few years, including new series outside of ABC and Netflix, a Doctor Strange crossover with The Defenders, and perhaps even a long-awaited Black Widow project.
