The first trailer for 'Paradise,' the directorial debut from writer Diablo Cody ('Juno,' 'Young Adult'), has landed online just days after the announcement that the film will have its premiere on VOD via DirecTV on August 8. The film stars Julianne Hough as Lamb, a young, conservative Christian woman who is badly scarred in a plane crash, loses her faith, and runs off to Las Vegas with her insurance money to sin a little.
We're getting excited for the remake of 'Evil Dead' around here -- the first trailer was intense and more brutal than we expected, and this stylish new poster hits our sweet spot, but can the film live up to the promise made on the poster?
Granted, it's been years since anyone had occasion to parody the off kilter snappy dialogue of indie pregnancy comedy 'Juno,' but Diablo Cody's influence has continued to be felt in films like 'Young Adult' and even the dearly departed TV series 'United States of Tara.' That influence will soon be front and center once more, now that the former stripper-turned writer has begun developing 'Alex + Amy' over at ABC, but what's it all about?
First 'Dancing with the Stars,' then 'Footloose' and then 'Rock of Ages.' Julianne Hough is not slacking when it comes to snagging time on the big screen. Aside from getting cast opposite Josh Duhamel in 'Safe Haven,' she was cast in the lead role for Diablo Cody's directorial debut and still yet-to-be-named project -- and it looks like she'll be spending even more time with her.
