Amazon Studios scored an early Christmas present with Friday’s renewal of controversial alt-history drama The Man in the High Castle, but that’s just the beginning. The streaming service has also picked up five new dramas, including Tig Notaro and Diablo Cody’s One Mississippi, while renewing Red Oaks and Hand of God.

The best news to come out of Sony’s live-action Barbie movie occurred over the summer, when the studio hired Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody to deliver a new draft of the screenplay based on Mattel’s iconic toy. But just as Barbie herself has tried on many different outfits and career choices, Sony has decided to try on many different screenplays until they find one that fits.

Amazon original series have been picking up steam over the last year or so, between Emmy and Golden Globe wins for Transparent, and more high-concept launches like The Man in the High Castle, so who’s ready for 2015? Even more talent populates the next crop of Amazon pilots to choose from, including Iron Man 3 director Shane Black, Sacha Baron Cohen, and a can’t-miss comedy from Tig Notaro, Louis C.K. and Diablo Cody.

Sony went on a release date-spree earlier today, scheduling a ton of upcoming films for 2016 and 2017. In addition to Bad Boys 3 and Bad Boys 4, the studio also set a 2017 date for the first film in Stephen King’s Dark Tower franchise and announced dates for a handful of anticipated projects, like Edgar Wright’s latest, the Barbie movie, Underworld 5 and more.

Comedian Tig Notaro has been making plenty of headlines of late, and isn’t about to stop at a new HBO special or Netflix documentary. Instead, the revered cancer-surviving comedian will partner with Diablo Cody to star in and write a new Amazon comedy pilot, produced by Louis C.K.

August is the last month of summer, which means you’re probably looking forward to bigger releases like Fantastic Four — but don’t let Ricki and the Flash escape your notice. The new film from director Jonathan Demme and Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody features Meryl Streep in the role of a rock goddess who left her family behind to pursue her dreams. It must be difficult to be mad at your absentee mom when she rocks this hard — the new trailer for Ricki and the Flash has arrived, in which acting icon Meryl Streep plays a rock icon fumbling her way through making amends with the family she once left behind. Adding a little realism is Mamie Gummer, Streep's real-life daughter who plays her fictional daughter in the film, which totally won't make you cry at all.

Meryl Streep is a Queen. That’s just science fact. The immensely talented actress appears next as a rock star (oh, yes) in Ricki and the Flash, from writer Diablo Cody and director Jonathan Demme. The titular role of Ricki requires singing and guitar-playing, and you know Queen Meryl would not be content letting a stand-in handle all the work. In addition to recording 12 cover songs for the new film, Streep was so committed to the project that she spent six months honing her guitar skills and wound up literally bleeding for her art. That’s just how Meryl Streep rolls.

Plans for a Barbie movie were first announced last year to much confusion/fascination/morbid curiosity. But like LEGO, the world of Barbie is pretty vast and offers almost infinite possibilities—she’s had so many careers, for one thing. The live-action Barbie film hasn’t offered any news since the initial announcement, but today brings word that Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody has been hired to give the script the ol’ rewrite treatment.
