Comic-Con 2012 just made fans of Edgar Wright's "Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy" very happy with an announcement from Universal Pictures that the final film in the series, 'The World's End' has been greenlit. They've even given us the first official poster for the film, which you can check out below!
With Edgar Wright about to shoot 'The World's End' (the final film in the Cornetto trilogy) this fall, his involvement with the scripting process for the Johnny Depp film 'The Night Stalker' was questionable. Enter Screenwriter D.V. DeVincentis, who is best known for writing the John Cusack movies 'Gross Pointe Blank' and 'High Fidelity.'
Last we heard from Edgar Wright, he was hired to adapt 'The Night Stalker' for Johnny Depp. But he'd also teased that he and Simon Pegg were writing the third film in their Cornetto Trilogy 'The World's End.' Pegg has been shooting 'Star Trek 2' (but he just wrapped), so it was unknown when the film would be coming. Now we know, they've got a September start date with a planned Spring 2013 release.
On the heels of the news that Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers’ decimated the all-time highest weekend box-office record on Sunday, fans already started looking ahead to what Marvel Studios might have in store for a sequel. And while most follow-ups tend to go bigger, this bit of news suggests ‘The Avengers 2’ might go smaller. Much, much smaller.
The world has been waiting patiently for the next film from director Edgar Wright and actor/writer Simon Pegg. But there comes a time when we're going to stop being so patient. Pegg, off filming 'Star Trek 2' for J.J. Abrams, took a break to update his fans on the status of 'The World's End', their follow-up to 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'Hot Fuzz.'
If you haven't been paying attention to anything that writer/director Edgar Wright has been making in the past few years then you're a fool. He's one of the most talented, innovative and witty filmmakers out there. So if you haven't been paying attention, then you should now with his new online project.
