Mary Poppins is back. Or um, returning.

Daniel Craig couldn’t have made it more clear during the Spectre press tour that he was pretty sick of playing James Bond. He even went so far as to suggest he’d pick slashing his wrists over returning as the famous secret agent for a fifth time. And now it looks like the actor is really done as 007, reportedly turning down a ton of money to star in the next Bond film. As big of a bummer as that is, it also means it’s time to speculate!

Just a couple of weeks ago, Marvel’s Kevin Feige said that the studio will probably reveal who’s directing and starring in the Captain Marvel solo film sometime this summer, or by fall at the latest. What followed was a particularly interesting scoop suggesting that the director and lead actor being eyed for the project both share the same first name, which kicked off a bunch of hopeful speculation among fans. Today brings a small but interesting piece of info to add some fuel that particular rumor mill.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War is a prequel, a sequel, a spinoff, a mashup, a bit of a remake, and almost a movie. It contains many recognizable elements from actual films — plot, characters, scenes, imagery, music — almost all of them inspired by (if not outright stolen from) other far more original movies and television shows. There are bits and pieces shamelessly swiped from Frozen, Lord of the Rings, The Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, plus a few odds and ends from the production it is ostensibly following, 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman. It’s almost like the movie version of a pod person from Invasion of the Body Snatchers; superficially indistinguishable from the real thing, but lacking any semblance of a soul.

In a move that sounds like an April Fools’ Day joke but isn’t, development has begun on a sequel to Sicario, and everyone keeps referring to it as Sicario 2. An interview at The Hollywood Reporter with Black Label Media producers Molly Smith and twins Thad and Trent Luckinbill (those are their real names, also not an April Fool’s Day joke) unearthed the nugget that the team behind Demolition has already started in on the project they call Sicario 2, continuing the long and bitter battle to secure the Mexican-American border from drug runners. And just as the so-called War on Drugs ran into perpetuity with no viable end in sight, so shall this unlikely hit about the tangled morals of international law continue for as long as the money stays green.

Snow White and the Huntsman was a pretty decent fantasy-action update on the classic fairy tale with some solid action sequences in the vein of Game of Thrones — which makes The Huntsman: Winter’s War and its blatant riff on Frozen all the more baffling. The latest trailer for the super-weird prequel has arrived, and if nothing else, we can all agree that A. The cast is great, and B. This movie looks BONKERS.

Casting Emily Blunt as the new Mary Poppins was one way for Disney to get fans of the original excited about this new reboot/sequel. Blunt has proved herself as both a talented singer and actor and is one of the few people who could follow in Julie Andrews’ shoes...

It wasn’t long (a few days, actually) after Disney announced plans for a new Mary Poppins movie that a rumor began circulating that the studio had their sights set on Emily Blunt to play the title role. Someone at Disney must have a pretty strong vision board because Blunt is officially in talks to play the part originated by Julie Andrews in the 1964 classic. Wishes really do come true.

From riding a polar bear in The Huntsman: Winter’s War (which could very well be the most bonkers movie of the year) to lending her voice to a new character in the My Little Pony movie, Emily Blunt is apparently determined to defy expectations. The star of one of last year’s best films (Sicario) is certainly making some interesting choices, and while you might scoff at a My Little Pony movie, one thing is for sure: That movie is going to make serious bank.
