What's surprising about Fede Alvarez's reboot of 'Evil Dead' is that it's currently got a fresh rating. As both a horror movie and as a remake, that's rare that a film like this isn't torn to pieces. Perhaps that will change after more people get a look at it (it premiered at SXSW, and we gave it a good review), but still. Here's a new clip from the movie.

Remember that 'Evil Dead 4' statement from Sam Raimi a while back? How he told a crowd of fans that he and his brother were planning to work on a script this summer? The eagerly anticipated (and for many fans, dreaded) remake of 'Evil Dead' premiered at SXSW last night, where it brought down the house and earned rave reviews. When the cast and crew took the stage for a Q&A following the screening, director Fede Alvarez told the pumped up crowd exactly what they wanted to hear: Yep, an 'Evil Dead 2' is already being written.

A fanboy frenzy was set off late last week, when news of a possible 'Evil Dead 4' film came about, thanks to Sam Raimi's remark that he was planning on working on the script this summer with his brother, Ivan. Of course, everyone went nuts and immediately marked down a fourth 'Evil Dead' on their calendars. But now comes the part, predictably, where Raimi rains on our parade with a clarification.
However, all hope is not lost yet, fellow deadites.

Sam Raimi's 'Evil Dead' trilogy is one of the touchstones of cult cinema. From the first no-budget horror film, to the frenetic, slapsticky horror-comedy of the second, to the Dungeons and Dragons and Mark Twain-inspired third film, they are marvelously entertaining movies that inspire very passionate fans. Which is why people keep asking Raimi about a fourth film. Well, he's answered, and suggests he's going to write a new sequel this summer.
