Either way, the big announcement is finally here, as presented by black-ish star Anthony Anderson and Gilmore Girls returnee Lauren Graham, so let’s find out what we're all angry about/celebrating this year at the Emmys!

Lest you think Carrie Coon’s TV tenure might end with The Leftovers Season 3, the critical favorite is officially moving to Fargo. FX has tapped Coon for a leading role alongside Ewan McGregor in the 2017 season, and a familiar-sounding role at that.

The first season of FX’s Fargo established the series as an entity independent from the film, without necessarily promising a sequel. Along came Season 2 to push Fargo closer to an anthology model, but according to creator Noah Hawley, if Season 3 doesn’t end up the final Fargo chapter, they may follow Louis C.K.’s practice of delaying new seasons until a worthy idea surfaces.

Now that Fargo casting Ewan McGregor finally gave us a heading (or rather, double-heading) on Season 3, the third year of FX’s Minnesota murder yarn starts to take shape. To wit, showrunner Noah Hawley previews the “sibling rivalry” between Ewans, as well as a smaller character drama than Season 2, and some potential Solverson returns down the road.

We’ve come to grips with the sad fact that FX’s Fargo will sit out 2016 for a Season 3 premiere next year, and Ewan McGregor has two reasons to brave the cold. The erstwhile Star Wars star will have not one, but two leading roles in Fargo Season 3 next year, the first full details of which have been uncovered from the snow.

FX’s Fargo has certainly made the case for movie-TV reboots to tell worthwhile stories only loosely based on their predecessors, and The Departed executive producer Roy Lee said the Martin Scorsese drama may follow suit. In lieu of stalled efforts for a sequel, the erstwhile Infernal Affairs may yet have its own Fargo-type TV series.

Centering around a Season 1 character seemed practically a footnote against the brilliance of Fargo Season 2, but Season 3 will certainly continue the tradition. FX confirms at least one character from past seasons will return for the 2010-set return, itself airing in 2017.

The moment that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association first announced the 2016 Golden Globe nominees, American Horror Story: Hotel star Lady Gaga raised a few eyebrows with a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Miniseries. Welp, guess who ended up taking home the award!

The X-Men franchise surprised fans with news that the Marvel-ous mutants would spawn not one, but two TV series, the more developed of which will see Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley taking on Charles Xavier’s son Legion. Now, our first official star has arrived, tapping Fargo Season 2 face Rachel Keller for a potentially rogue role.

Not only was 2015 a great year for film, but it might have been a more consistently great year for television — so much so that it was impossibly difficult to choose just 10 shows from a list that began with about 15. As such, I want to give honorable mention to a few of the series that would have been included if this were a longer list: Tina Fey’s remarkable new Netflix comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the final (half?) season of Mad Men, the incomparably hilarious and relatable Broad City, the dizzying and dangerous journey of The Jinx, another delightful season of Orange Is the New Black, the final outing of Parks and Recreation and the reliably enthralling Game of Thrones. Oh, and Difficult People! How could I forget Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner’s wonderfully biting Hulu series? See. It was an excellent year.
