Up until last week, I was a proud resident of New York City, which meant  —  like most New Yorkers  —  I avoided Times Square like the plague. Even transferring between trains at Times Square could be a frustrating exercise in crowd management; when it comes to actually getting behind the wheel myself, I would gladly drive around the entire island of Manhattan twice before I would risk driving anywhere between Union Square and Central Park. That makes the New York setting of The Fate of the Furious an exercise in wish fulfillment for me. Forget street racing and international espionage; I just want to experience what it’s like to drive through Times Square at more than five miles an hour.

In the beginning, there were illegal street races and high speed heists, and Vin Diesel looked upon that which had created and saw that it was good. But as the franchise continued, the stakes became a little more… let’s say a little more insane. Cars parachuted out of the sky. Characters leapt their vehicles between skyscrapers. Tanks exchanged missiles with a submarine. As each movie has progressively upped the wow-factor of the franchise, there seems to be only one natural outcome for the Fast and the Furious family: they’re definitely going to head into space.

F8Gate. The ‘Candy Ass’ Heard ’Round the World. Call it what you will, but last year’s unexpected beef between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel on the set of The Fate of the Furious has resulted in a Hollywood blind item almost as interesting and epic as the movie franchise that spawned it. Forget about turning your back on family; watching Dwayne Johnson lose his legendary cool over one of his costars was like watching a couple you really admired go through a messy divorce. Were things really that out-of-control behind the scenes or was this all an elaborate ruse involving two men who understand the showmanship involved in a proper heel turn?

For more than three months, The Fate of the Furious held the top spot of the movie trailer X-Games, accruing 139 million views in 24 hours, promptly dethroning Beauty and the Beast. But now a new player has entered the game, and he comes bearing a red balloon and a mouthful of shiny, sharp teeth. Beep beep, Vinnie.

If you, like most of us, live in a capitalist society and are sometimes distracted from an action movie by the thought of how much it must have cost to clean up after that car chase or that oil drum explosion, you’re not alone. A couple folks took it upon themselves to estimate exactly how much damage the Fast & Furious Family has accrued over the last seven movies, and the final tally might make you a little squeamish.

With the eighth on the way and two more planned sequels after that, it seems like the Fast & Furious franchise will never end. And you know what, if Vin Diesel, The Rock, and Jason Statham want to keep making movies where the good guys win by driving quickly and angrily, more power to them! Diesel himself revealed during CinemaCon on Wednesday, after an emotional tribute to the late Paul Walker, that The Fate of the Furious is the first in a new trilogy of films.

New ‘Fate of the Furious’ Trailer Has More Cars, More Explosions, More Insanity
We’ve seen some insane things in the Fast and the Furious franchise, but eight movies in and now they’re straight up throwing cars out of buildings. The latest trailer for The Fate of the Furious is, as expected, bigger and crazier, with more cars, more explosions, and even bigger motor vehicles creating even bigger explosions. If you ever wanted to see Dwayne Johnson skate across an icy tundra and use his muscle to change the direction of a torpedo, you’re in luck.

I’ll be honest: I didn’t get the pun in the title of The Fate of the Furious until just now, when I got my eyes on the film’s latest poster. Take a look at it and see if you get it. (Maybe you got it already. If you did, sit quietly and give the rest a moment to figure it out.)

‘The Fate of the Furious’ Goes International in New Trailer
It seems appropriate that the new international trailer for The Fate of the Furious is rather…international, taking the crew from New York to Cuba to the arctic (it’s like Fury Road but with, like, ice) for the eighth (!) installment of the franchise. The next chapter of the awesomely soapy action series looks like a pretty juicy one, as Vin Diesel’s Dom straight-up abandons his family for Charlize Theron (who wouldn’t) and her questionable hairstyle.

‘The Fate of the Furious’ May Be an Epic 160 Minutes Long
It seems like every big blockbuster movie these days is getting longer and longer. Sometimes that’s a good thing, if a movie requires a lot of time to pace out its story, but sometimes a longer running time just means there’s more time for the movie to run itself into the ground. If a new report is true, the next Fast & Furious movie won’t be very fast at all — in fact, it’ll take almost three hours to watch.
