Though we won't have altogether long until its January 15 return, 'Arrow' season 2 sped through its midseason finale, "Three Ghosts," last night. A number of familiar faces returned to the fold as Starling City's latest big bad was officially revealed, while a certain scarlet speedster met his destiny in a lightning-quick chemical bath. So, what do the 'Arrow' bosses have to say about the big new changes in the back half of season 2?

The CW's 'Arrow' will soon enter a brave new world of DC tie-ins with this Wednesday's "The Scientist," bringing forensic scientist Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into the mix to investigate a seemingly superpowered crime spree. To that end, the CW has flashed on an in-depth new preview for the hour, along with news that 'Doctor Who' star Alex Kingston will return as Dinah Lance!
Last night's all-new 'Arrow' installment, "State V. Queen," introduced some shocking twists and returned a few familiar faces along the way, but will the CW-DC drama keep the same momentum on December 4 when Grant Gustin's Barry Allen flashes into town? See the future scarlet speedster in the first trailer for 'Flash' spinoff setup "The Scientist" right now!
Earlier today we learned that 'Arrow''s impending 'Flash' spinoff would in fact emerge as a separate pilot, rather than feature the character's super-powered origin later on in the season, but that won't stop Grant Gustin from popping up as Central City police scientist Barry Allen on December 4! Get a first look at "The Scientist" with the pre-Flash inside!
We were more than a bit skeptical when 'Arrow' season 2 announced that it would introduce DC superhero Barry Allen into its story, culminating in a 2014 episode to serve as a backdoor pilot for a potential CW 'Flash' spinoff, and now it seems producers have blinked as well. Grant Gustin's 'Flash' will still receive a pilot for a potential series, but not in 'Arrow' season 2 as originally planned.
'Arrow' season 2 still managed to hit the mark with last night's "Keep Your Enemies Closer," an episode that abdicated the main plot for a Diggle-centric turn in Russia, but will the CW superhero drama have the same true aim when Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) makes a speedy entrance into town in "The Scientist"? Find out what brings the Flash to Starling City with a few new spoilers!
Less surprising than the initial announcement that 'Arrow' season 2 would incorporate the Flash for a potential spinoff was the follow up that 'Glee' star Grant Gustin had beaten out several others to the role. And while we won't see Dr. Barry Allen make his debut until later in the upcoming season, with his red-suited alter ego arriving even later, Gustin recently opened up about the non-traditional casting approach and the iconic duds we'll eventually see the character sport.
Well, okay then! Earlier this week we'd heard that 'Arrow' season 2 was down to three candidates in casting 'The Flash,' to be introduced in the coming episodes as Dr. Barry Allen and speeding toward a potential spinoff next season, and the decision is in. Ex-'Glee' villain Grant Gustin will don the iconic red tights in 'Arrow' season 2, so what do we think of the choice?
