FOX’s Empire proved an unexpected juggernaut across its first season, but did you know the Lee Daniels drama bucked every trend by its climbing ratings? Or that we almost had Wesley Snipes and Mo’Nique instead of Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson? These are just some of the trivial tracks flowing through the eleventh episode of ‘You Think You Know TV?,’ which drip-drops knowledge of FOX’s Empire!

Revival-happy though TV has become, the middling success of 24: Live Another Day has cooled interest in an immediate followup, the latest rumors suggesting FOX might revive the franchise with a new male lead. That seems to be the case now, as Kiefer Sutherland says he wouldn’t return for another full-time 24 gig.
Earlier this week, The Simpsons made waves with news that Homer and Marge would legally separate in the Season 27 premiere “Every Man’s Dream,” but the internet being the internet, well, outrage was had. Now, producers would like to assure you that one of animation’s most iconic couples aren’t calling it quits after all.
They’ll never stop The Simpsons, so have no fear, they’ve got stories for years, but did you know America’s favorite animated family was thought up in the lobby before a pitch meeting? Or that Matt Groening based most of the characters on his own family? These are just some of the Springfield kwyjibos populating the tenth episode of ‘You Think You Know TV?,’ which pays a visit to The Simpsons’ home state of … uh, somewhere!
Apart from a few burning cast questions, The Simpsons has plenty lined up for Season 27 this fall, including a premiere plot with Girls star Lena Dunham that sees Homer and Marge hitting a new low in their marriage. Now, EP Al Jean explains the cause of their separation, as well as a role for SNL favorite Kate McKinnon, and an episode devoted to Bart’s Boyhood.
FOX’s X-Files event revival has fans in a tizzy with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson tweeting out snippets from the set, but shooting in a very public Vancouver has brought cameras out of the woodwork. See Mulder and Scully back in action, along with a very dapper Joel McHale in our first look at the 2016 X-Files return!
Early fans of The Simpsons will recall any of several iconic Sideshow Bob episodes, though the character’s menace has diminished somewhat over the years. Now, producers confirm that Kelsey Grammer’s dulcet tones will return in Season 27 as Bob finally accomplishes his decades-long dream of killing one Bart Simpson.
All of the X-Files casting to date has followed the return of old school stars like Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis, but the latest acquisition for FOX’s 2016 revival comes from a different school altogether. Fresh off the (series?) finale of Community, Joel McHale will trade in Greendale for little green men.
First came 24: Live Another Day, than Heroes Reborn and The X-Files, and now the revival game has officially unshackled the Scofields. FOX has formally begun development of a Prison Break revival series, to return Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell to their wall-busting ways.
FOX’s 24 revival Live Another Day certainly did well enough to kickstart similar returns from The X-Files and Heroes Reborn (Zzz…), but hasn’t quite pushed the network to commit to a second round with Jack Bauer. In fact, they may not have to, as FOX has begun developing a new spinoff without Kiefer Sutherland at the helm.
