Every year brings A&E’s Bates Motel closer in line with its cinematic origins, but is Season 4 finally the year Norman sends his mother down the drain? A new 2016 promo hints at some familiar Psycho imagery, and an ominous end for Norman’s favorite future basement decoration.

It’s been some time since we’ve checked in for a stay at A&E’s Bates Motel, and it seems another famous horror property will be setting up shop nextdoor this March. The network has officially set a March premiere for the fourth year of Norman Bates’ descent into madness, as well as The Omen sequel series Damien.

A&E’s Bates Motel closed up shop for Season 3 with a somewhat uncertain finality, but the network has little doubt over keeping Norman on track for a Psycho future. Not only will Norman and Norma keep the Bates Motel open through Season 4, but the network has ordered a fifth (and potentially final?) season as well.

The Bates Motel has once again closed up shop for another season, and with it Norma and Norman inched ever-closer to their Alfred Hitchcock Psycho roots. Season 3 finale “Unconscious” put a major nail in the coffin, killing off a character present since the very pilot, and simultaneously paying major homage to the classic film, but has A&E’s horror-thriller finally jumped the gun?

Welp, if you're going to tell the story of a young Norman Bates growing up to become the 'Psycho' we all know and love, it wouldn't make a terrible amount of sense to quit after the second season. A&E officially renewed Vera Farmiga's Norma and Freddie Highmore's Norman for 'Bates Motel' season 3, set to open up for business in 2015.
