Jimmy Fallon to Host the 2017 Golden Globes

Following in the footsteps of his former SNL pals Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon will host the 2017 Golden Globes — which should also provide a respite from the antics of Ricky Gervais, for those of you who were growing a little weary of his schtick. The big question now is whether or not Fallon can make it through the awards ceremony without laughing.

The most unpredictable awards show of them all turned even weirder than usual on Sunday night. While the Golden Globes are known for favoring the unexpected, they’ve hardly been a reliable bellwether for the Oscars, nor for the Emmys. Sometimes they honor the dark horses and underdogs that other award shows fail to recognize, but when it came to television the 2016 Globes winners favored the newest series on the block.

The 2016 Golden Globes have been nothing if not consistent with surprises, and following all the unexpected Mozart in the Jungle love, the Best TV Drama went far more reasonably. USA breakout Mr. Robot is your new winner for 2016's Best TV drama, and deservedly so.
