Puns aside, The Flash will hit the ground running in its March 17 return, kicking off the first of nine episodes that will bring about some major changes to Barry Allen’s world. New footage and teases from creators at PaleyFest promise more DC villains and time-travel terrors to come, along with new speedsters in Season 2, and the biggest burning question of S.T.A.R. Labs answered.

That shouldn’t be a revolutionary thing to say, and most of this stems from the type of TV logic that makes you look at blue sky and think, “Hmmm, but maybe it’s really orange?” Answers are rarely what they seem since shows often have something else up their sleeve to completely contradict the norm later on. Another reason why an unassailable fact stinks? Having answers is boring because then there’s no way for the audience to “participate,” as it were, in a piece of fiction. Yes, that participation is always an illusion, but simply mulling over possibilities (without the need to actually “solve” them) is one of the chief pleasures of serialized narration.

It’s somewhat ironic that an episode featuring this much Firestorm would leave me a little cold. But that’s where I am tonight with ‘The Flash,’ which did enough to keep things moving along even if its actual content was all over the map both narratively and tonally. There were about three or four solid episodes in “The Nuclear Man,” all fighting for the same space. But whereas the battleground over Ronnie Raymond’s body yielded a literal explosion, this episode yielded few fireworks.

Bouncing back nicely after last week’s subpar episode, tonight’s episode of ‘The Flash’ didn’t rewrite the rules of television but provided an entertaining hour all the same. “Crazy For You” is the type of episode this show does well when not focused exclusively on the show’s über-mythology: It provided a villain-of-the-week that tied into the emotional states of the characters, deployed some inventive action sequences, and then made you cry a little at the show’s latest open-hearted expression of love between two people. Not that I cried, or anything. GORILLA GRODD 4 LYFE, RIGHT?

In honor of the Fall finale of ‘The Flash,’ I thought I’d steal a page from fellow ScreenCrush writer Mike Ryan and ask twenty questions about tonight’s episode, “The Man In The Yellow Suit.” Did the reveal of The Reverse-Flash make any sense?

‘Arrow’ season 3 lets loose its eighth installment of the year with “The Brave and the Bold,” as ‘The Flash’ comes to town to aid Oliver in pursuit of a boomerang-throwing killer, only to find the spree has deeper ties to A.R.G.U.S. and Diggle’s wife Lyla.

Tomorrow night will see ‘The Flash’ kicking off part one of the big “Flash vs. Arrow” crossover, but why wait a whole 24 hours for some flashy new goodness? Get an extended look at Oliver and Barry’s buddy brawl, as well as DC villains Captain Cold and Heat Wave, and we’ll even throw a shirtless Felicity into the latest ‘Flash’ trailer, because why not?

‘The Flash’ hung around this week, despite a “Power Outage” and the approaching holiday festivity, but December 2 will see the Scarlet Speedster really heating things up when Oliver Queen comes to down for two-part crossover “Flash vs. Arrow.” We’ve seen the photos, but watch for yourself what happens when Barry takes on the emerald archer in the first “Flash vs. Arrow” trailer!

Both ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’ will understandably take a breather next week for the holidays, something they’ll need to gear up for the big “Flash vs. Arrow” crossover December 2, but The CW isn’t quite finished putting the heroes through their paces. After the two slug it out, Barry will head to Starling City to help Oliver take on DC’s Captain Boomerang, as seen in the first photos from December 3 crossover conclusion, “The Brave and the Bold”!

We’ve known forever that ‘Arrow‘ and ‘The Flash‘ would come to blows in a December crossover event, but between Girders and Cupids on either side, Warner Bros. has kept the battle somewhat under wraps. No longer, as ‘The Flash’ speeds out the first photos of its own crossover lead-in “Flash vs. Arrow,” along with the first footage of our CW superheroes clashing!
