Arrow Season 4 didn’t quite clue us into next year’s big bad the way Season 3 name-dropped Damien Darhk, leaving fans to sleuth out his or her identity with “charming” descriptions. Now, an new report says the Arrow Season 5 big bad will take a few cues from legendary The Wire villain Stringer Bell, with just a hint of Jason Momoa.
Just over a week removed from the Arrow Season 4 finale, fans are still awaiting the new big bad to menace Star City (or maybe the entire galaxy this time, for scale), but what of any new heroes? Well, heroes-ish, anyway, as Arrow Season 5 is looking to add a reckless new vigilante to its ranks.
Any Arrow fan well-remembers that the CW drama’s take on DC’s Suicide Squad seemingly went up in smoke over the course of Season 3, reportedly over corporate mandate not to compete with David Ayer’s upcoming film. Now, series star Willa Holland confirms as much, venting her frustration that DC TV can’t interact with the films the way Marvel or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. do.
The fourth season finale of Arrow ended on a fairly low-key “Schism,” disappointing a throng of fans who tuned into see if a time-turning Flash twist one-night earlier would ripple out across The CW’s DC dramas. The Arrow finale went by with nary a mention of Central City, but star Stephen Amell thinks the emerald archer will be back to basics in Season 5, rather than dealing with time-travel twists from another series.

Not behind the camera, perhaps, though Smith now wants to write an episode or two of The Flash’s DC TV progenitor, adapting a famous villain from his own comic run.
