Comic-Con 2013 is approaching quicker than you think, and with every year comes a batch of geeky properties ready to present footage to a crowded hall of adoring fans. Last year gave us peeks at 'Iron Man 3,' 'Pacific Rim,'
Now that we're getting closer to Comic-Con 2013 in San Diego, it's time to start planning, especially since more and more panel appearances are being announced.
While we had an inkling that Marvel and Lucasfilm would be leaving out their upcoming lineups from the convention's events (you can read more about that here), new reports state that 'Captain America 2,' at least, will be hitting up Comic-Con 2013 with its own panel.
'Guardians of the Galaxy' casting is starting to heat up as the pieces are now coming into place. First word came that Chris Pratt would be playing Peter Quill/Star-Lord, and now it's been announced that Dave Bautista has landed the plum role of Drax the Destroyer.
Since the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' rumors are still flying fast and furious, let's take this new one with a grain of salt as always...although it certainly makes a lot of sense. The new word around the internet is that the Nova corps will play a role in Marvel's upcoming space opera. Who are these guys? Let's find out.
The upcoming release of 'Iron Man 3' not only kicks off the 2013 summer movie season, it kicks off Marvel's "Phase Two," a slate of films that will build up to the 2015 release of 'The Avengers 2.' Phase Two consists of 'Iron Man 3,' 'Thor: The Dark World,' 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' AKA, all of those movies you're really going to want to see. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently spoke about the Phase Two films, spilling some details for thirsty geeks the world over.
Although 'Guardians of the Galaxy' has been a generally tight-lipped production on the official end, the unofficial end has been feeding movie news rumor mill, with all kinds of eyebrow-raising news coming in on a seemingly daily basis. The latest rumor throws two more names into the mix: former wrestler Dave Bautista and 'Lost' veteran Kevin Durand.
'Guardians of the Galaxy' seems to be moving at light speed over at Marvel. Aside from the new comic book release, casting is well underway for the movie, most recently filling its lead role of Star-Lord with Chris Pratt. And now it looks like the next position to get filled is that of Drax the Destroyer with 'Game of Thrones' and 'Bullet to the Head' star Jason Momoa.
'Guardians of the Galaxy' has always had one major stumbling block when it comes to making it as a big superhero movie at the center of Phase 2 of Marvel's Cinematic Universe: one of the leading characters is a walking, talking raccoon. Yes, for those more accustomed to Iron Man and Captain America, Rocket Raccoon might be an adjustment but Marvel is committed to the challenge and this is how they're going to pull it off.
'Guardians of the Galaxy' cast a wide net trying to find the right star to star as Star-Lord (that's a lot of stars...). There were rumors that Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey were both being considered, so clearly they were looking for someone who was believable as an action hero and who also had some comedic chops. Marvel has finally found their man and it is 'Parks and Recreation' star Chris Pratt.
We knew that Marvel has longterm plans for their movie universe, but we didn't know they were this longterm. It turns out that they're not just thinking about 'Iron Man 3,' 'Thor: The Dark World,' 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and the second 'Avengers' movie -- they're already thinking about a third 'Avengers' movie...and the major role The Hulk will play in the coming films. The following news will be nothing new to comic fans, but casual viewers should know that this is pretty major SPOILER territory.
