Hannibal

This bloody horror series brings everyone’s favorite cannibalistic serial killer, Hannibal Lecter, to television. He’s played by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen in this prequel series loosely based on Thomas Harris’ Lecter novels. Hugh Dancy co-stars as FBI profiler Will Graham, who teams with Lecter to solve horrific cases without realizing that his new partner is a murderer as well. The show has garnered rave reviews — may critics have called it one of the very best shows on television — but through its first two seasons, it’s struggled to find an audience. Nonetheless, NBC picked up ‘Hannibal’ for a third season, which is set to debut next summer.

  • Network: NBC
  • Air Time: Fridays, 10PM ET
  • Season 3 Premiere: Summer 2015

Acceptance, understanding, forgiveness…betrayal. Just like any relationship, the results are exceedingly complex.

Tonight’s episode of Hannibal is, essentially, a short film, one that functions as a gorgeous, somber mood piece — or a tone poem, as would be more to Hannibal Lecter’s high brow liking. Will Graham has emerged from the gruesome events of the Season 2 finale, alive but not unscathed, with myriad existential and logical questions that have but only one answer: Hannibal.
