Hannibal

This bloody horror series brings everyone’s favorite cannibalistic serial killer, Hannibal Lecter, to television. He’s played by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen in this prequel series loosely based on Thomas Harris’ Lecter novels. Hugh Dancy co-stars as FBI profiler Will Graham, who teams with Lecter to solve horrific cases without realizing that his new partner is a murderer as well. The show has garnered rave reviews — may critics have called it one of the very best shows on television — but through its first two seasons, it’s struggled to find an audience. Nonetheless, NBC picked up ‘Hannibal’ for a third season, which is set to debut next summer.

  • Network: NBC
  • Air Time: Fridays, 10PM ET
  • Season 3 Premiere: Summer 2015

'Hannibal' Season 3 Recasts Michael Pitt's Mason Verger
The NBC ‘Hannibal’'s bold choice to introduce ‘Boardwalk Empire’ star Michael Pitt as iconic literary baddie Mason Verger paid off in gruesome spades, but it seems season 3 will have a new face to go along with Mason’s…well, “new” face. Pitt has opted to leave the NBC drama behind, and will be replaced by ‘The Divide’ star Joe Anderson.

The production schedule and literary influence behind 'Hannibal' season 3 has produced a wide range of information over new character and story, with little casting thus to back it up. That all changes with the first major casting of 'Hannibal' season 3, as 'Batman v. Superman' and 'The Wolverine' star Tao Okamoto will take the important role of Hannibal's "Lady Murasaki."

NBC's 'Hannibal' served its viewers a tantalizing, if terrifying shock by the climax of season 2 finale "Mizumono," but it seems series creator Bryan Fuller will follow through on one of the bigger twists in a major way. Not only will 'X-Files' vet Gillian Anderson return to 'Hannibal' season 3 in the role of Dr. Bedelia du Maurier, but the good Dr. Lecter's traveling companion will do so as a series regular!
