Starting tomorrow, audiences around the country will be able to see Hugh Jackman in Chappie, playing a former military man turned robotics engineer trying to produce a new human-piloted police drone. He sports a hideous mullet, spends most of the film sitting at a dreary cubicle, and generally behaves like a dope. So if you’re a Jackman fan looking for the guy you love in the X-Men and Wolverine movies, I’m afraid you’re going to have to wait a while longer.

‘Chappie’ Review: Highly Artificial, Limited Intelligence

by Matt Singer March 5, 2015 @ 11:01 AM
The technology in Neil Blomkamp’s movies is so fully realized and intricately detailed that it feels like another one of his characters. Now Blomkamp’s made Chappie, a film where that’s literally true in the form of a police robot given the gift of human consciousness. The result is one giant metaphor for itself; a story of the world’s first true artificial intelligence and how it is almost corrupted by violence, presented in a movie where any semblance of serious consideration of what it means to be alive is drowned out by gunfire, explosions, and macho posing.

Hugh Jackman Wants to Keep Playing Wolverine Until He Dies

Before the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Hugh Jackman said that he was pretty positive that he wouldn’t be playing Wolverine much longer. But now that the actor is appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse and starring in a third Wolverine solo film — which will mark his ninth time playing the hero on screen — he seems to have changed his tune. Jackman says he wants to play Wolverine forever, and with that attitude and his massive appeal, Fox just might let him.

Yesterday, Sir Patrick Stewart revealed that he would not, as was widely suspected, be returning for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. He did, however, tease his involvement in the next ‘Wolverine’ movie saying, “we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together.” He offered no further details, so we took this rumor straight to the man himself, Wolverine, and asked Hugh Jackman for some details.

Watch Hugh Jackman's Reaction When He Learns About the Marvel and Spider-Man Deal

by Mike Sampson February 10, 2015 @ 1:55 PM
We spoke to Hugh Jackman earlier today for his upcoming movie ‘Chappie’ (we’ll have much more on that movie soon), and as we were making small talk, we asked Mr. Jackman whether he had heard the news yet about Marvel and Sony Pictures coming to terms on an agreement that would allow Spider-Man to crossover into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He had not. He was very surprised.

Patrick Stewart Teases Role in Next ‘Wolverine’ Movie, Says Ian McKellan Will Appear in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

Here’s a juicy tidbit from Professor Charles Xavier himself, Patrick Stewart, who’s currently promoting a new indie movie called ‘Match.’ Asked about his possible status for future ‘X-Men’ movies by The Oregonian, Stewart confirmed that it’s “very unlikely” he’ll be a part of the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ movie that will see young versions of the classic X-Men lineup (including Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, and Alexandra Shipp as Storm) face off against Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse. But Stewart did reveal that Ian McKellen’s Magneto will make an ‘Apocalypse’-tic appearance, and that his Professor X could be turning up in the next solo Wolverine movie alongside Hugh Jackman. Here’s the quote:

‘Chappie’ Trailer: What the Heck is This Movie?

by Jacob Hall January 9, 2015 @ 11:53 AM
Okay, let’s ask the big question: what the hell is ‘Chappie’? The first trailer made the film look like a slightly goofy and overly sentimental ‘Short Circuit’ riff, with the title robot learning about the world ... while teaching us (blech). The new trailer feels more like director Neill Blomkamp’s previous work, showcasing wacky science fiction ideas and explosive action. In any case, we’re definitely not sold on the film yet based on either trailer.

The other day we brought you the not-so-shocking revelation that Adam Sandler is the most overpaid actor in Hollywood (for the second year in a row!), but what about the actors who made 2014 a great time at the movies? We’re talking about the leading men and women who aren’t necessarily the highest-paid, but who have brought in the most money at the box office—proving their successful ability to draw millions of people to see their films, sometimes more than once. It probably won’t surprise you to learn that your imaginary BFFs Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are at the top of the list of the highest-grossing actors of 2014.
