You have three marquee-busting actors with Oscar credibility in your cast. You have an Oscar-winning director coming off his massively successful Best Picture honoree. You have the power of Broadway behind you. And your debut poster is … the face of an orphan?
'Les Miserables' - the film adaptation of the classic Broadway musical - is, uh, not something we're overly familiar with. But we do know the movie has an all-star cast including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen and Amanda Seyfriend. And now thanks to this new extended first-look at the adaptation, we found something else out about this film that's actually quite cool.
There are reasons to be skeptical of 'The Wolverine' - Hugh Jackman's return to the Marvel character that made him famous. For one, director Darren Aronofsky dropped out before shooting (and was later replaced by James Mangold). For another, the last two major appearances of Wolverine have been really crappy movies. Hugh Jackman knows this and that's why he's preaching that 'The Wolverine' will be a very different adventure.
James Mangold's currently filming 'The Wolverine' has one thing going for it: there's no way it could ever be as bad as its predecessor, 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine.' Like, no way. The only direction this character can go is up. With that said, we're cautiously excited to see the further adventures of Hugh Jackman's adamantium clawed mutant warrior, especially since the movie will follow one of the character's most famous and acclaimed storylines.
And thanks to a few set photos, we know that, for at least one scene, Wolverine will look like a homeless person.
James Mangold’s ‘The Wolverine’ has arrived in Australia to begin production, and the director held a press conference with star Hugh Jackman and local media to announce the crew’s arrival. While at the event, reporters were invited to shoot photos of some of the set work. Needless to say, those images raced their way to the Internet for all of us to peruse.
