Holiday Box Office Update: 'Fast and Furious 6' Laps the Competition

As always, the extended Memorial Day weekend proved to be a busy couple of days at the box office, with 'Fast and Furious 6' shattering every expectation in its first three days of release (as we reported right here). Meanwhile, 'The Hangover Part 3', uh, did not. But this is a four day weekend! How are both films looking to fare when the holidays are over and all of the dust has settled?

When is a $70 million opening not a success? When its predecessor opened to $75 million four years ago. This is the predicament facing 'Star Trek Into Darkness,' which opened at number one at box office while being something of a disappointment.

Surprise! 'Iron Man 3' has made a lot of money. We know no one saw this coming but the juggernaut that is Marvel continues to truck on as 'Iron Man 3' officially passed $1 billion in worldwide box-office late last night making it the 16th biggest film of all time, passing 'Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End' on the list. The only question left is...how high can it go?

If you remember last summer, Robert Downey, Jr. suffered an ankle injury while filming 'Iron Man 3' and the production hit some delays. Marvel didn't want to shut down and risk missing the May 3 release date, so they decided if they couldn't have Robert Downey, Jr. they were going to do the next best thing: make a fake Robert Downey, Jr. Did you spot Fake Tony Stark in the movie? Were you a little disappointed by the 'Iron Man 3' post-credits scene? The scene that was included was cute and funny but where was the big tease; the look ahead at one of the future Marvel movies, specifically the one that would've linked 'Iron Man 3' to 'Guardians of the Galaxy?' Well if one of the stars is to be believed, Marvel had that scene ready but scrapped it. But but but why? Find out after the jump.

Chinese 'Iron Man 3' Scenes to Become a Short Film

One of the most interesting stories to emerge from the production of 'Iron Man 3' was the involvement of Chinese production company DMG. The company arranged for the film to shoot several scenes in China featuring Chinese actors, but most of that footage ended up on the cutting room floor in the non-Chinese version of the finished film. However, international audiences may get a chance to see what they're missing: the footage is being transformed into a new 'Iron Man' short film.
