'Iron Man 3' Opens Bigger Than 'The Avengers' Overseas

'Iron Man 3' may not have opened in the United States yet, but it's already a smash hit overseas, earning more money in its opening weekend than 'The Avengers' did. There's a reason why movie studios are starting to think internationally when it comes to their blockbusters -- people in other countries want to see these movies just as much as Americans and a successful international release can double or triple a domestic gross.

There's been lots of talk lately of 'Iron Man 3' being the last of the Iron Man movies. And that may very well be a (sad) possibility. But that doesn't mean it's the end of the Iron Man universe. While promoting 'Iron Man 3,' star Don Cheadle talked about the very real chance that we'll see a spinoff War Machine movie in the future. Cheadle even has some very definite ideas on what 'War Machine' would be all about.

Although it doesn't open in the United States for another week and change, 'Iron Man 3' has already started rolling out internationally, garnering its fair share of rave reviews. While some audiences are already getting the chance to see the whole movie, we simply have to sit back and play the waiting game. Well, at least the waiting game involves a new behind-the-scenes look and footage from the film!

The 'Iron Man' movies did gangbusters at the box office -- the first one has a lifetime gross close to $600 million worldwide while the second one surpassed that mark -- and now 'Iron Man 3' is looking to make just as much if not more. However, will this be the last outing for Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark and Don Cheadle's Rhodey? It "could be."

'The Avengers' made over $1.5 billion (with a b) at the box office, which is enough to make it one of the biggest films of all-time. But Marvel executives weren't the only ones making money off the film. Star Robert Downey, Jr. confirms he made over $50 million to star in 'The Avengers' adding, "Isn't that crazy?" Yeah, pretty much.
