Anyone who has been following superhero movies knows that Robert Downey, Jr. has signed on to return as Tony Stark in 'The Avengers 2' and 'The Avengers 3,' but his future as Iron Man beyond that is up in the air. It's unlikely that Downey (who will be 53 when the third 'Avengers' film hits) will occupy the role forever, and Marvel hasn't been shy about recasting the character should the need ever arise.

Marvel's 'Iron Man 2' may have proven the least well-received of the trilogy, possibly even the cinematic franchise at large, but there can be no denying that Sam Rockwell's entertaining Justin Hammer character had clearly been shoved aside by 'Iron Man 3,' and likely any future films. Our long, national nightmare is over: Robert Downey Jr. has struck a deal with Marvel to reprise the role of Iron Man in at least two more films, 'The Avengers 2' and 'The Avengers 3.' We're pretty sure Hulk's glad he doesn't have to smash anyone over this.
